CT is still behind the curve though. For CT to be relevant it needs to be released at the same time as Coil and the new tome items if it wants to actually fulfill the function it's billed for.

For all we know, it might very well have i105 stuff.
Yoshida is going to be troll us all removing mithos and making CT2 drop AF iLVL 90 plus craft materials and iLVL 80 gears.
Just kidding. Whatever they'll make, it will have to be useful somehow otherwise people will abandon it in few weeks and focus on COIL2. won't they?

A18: You will be able obtain them in the new Crystal Tower dungeon in patch 2.3. Instead of increasing the drop rate, we want to increase the location of where the item can be obtained from.

What I'm really happy about is that CT will relevant longer. A lot of player thought the next part would be face roll content with ilvl95 rewards. Even though they didn't say what ilvl I would assume 105, Since they are letting us get upgrade items. Also assume its one item per week, one piece of gear or one upgrade item.
early on CT2 is going to be very relevant. every party would run it at least 8 times so everyone can get sand/oil, and then sup any other gear from coil2.
I forsee many weeks of CT grinding for oil/sand. CURSE YOU INEVITABLE WEEKLY LOOTING LOCKOUTS
If sands/oils are part of the one week lockout the gear better be damn good or it will be a weekly lotfest to upgrade sol gear to 110.
Having oils/sands in CT sort of devalues the work we been doing in the 2nd coil. Only can hope they are a rare drop like mirrors so SE just isn't handing out top tier 110 gear.
So if oils and sands are confirmed for CT2 doesn't that mean trolling will be twice as bad as to how desperate ppl will be on rolling for the 2 items. Last time i remembered, you could join in progress right after you get kicked to be able to most likely rejoin your group again.
It better not drop like the baby opo opo cuz having it sent straight into someone's inventory is kinda demoralizing.
We're only going to be able to get one per week anyways..... It will be like the way they did dimension blade fragment, You either get a piece of gear for the week or that. So I doubt the 2nd part will be much different. So people don't need to get to excited and think that it will be obtain as many upgrade items as you want. It's going to be one piece of gear or one upgrade item per week. At least now there is an alternative way to obtain them will help out a lot.
I think an excellent way to handle the Sand/Oil drops would have them be on their own loot lockout, separate from whatever other gear drops in CT2.
So you'd have 1 piece of CT2 gear per week, and the final boss could have a guaranteed drop of either 1 Sand or 1 Oil that would be it's own lockout.
I expect the sands/oil to be like the crafting fragment for the current Crystal Tower. Roughly 10% chance the last boss will drop it and then you have to roll against everyone for it.
It'll be like YOU can get it but you have a very low chance of doing so.
Crafting blade fragment is also lotting against 23 other players, so to make sands like that hahaha that's just really cruel. There's many things they can do to balance drops we will have to look forward to it.
You know its gonna have a loot lock right. only 1 item per week just like ct1. whether its sand/oil/gear it probably wont matter
I don't think Sand/Oil are going to be a super rare drop. And I also don't think the new CT gear will be lower than ilvl105. But I do know that we'll only be able to obtain either 1 piece of gear or 1 upgrade piece per week.
I hope the ilvl requirement for the new CT is higher than 80, I think that would help with people trolling.
Well, it became true. I'm kinda happy that I will be able to farm sands/oils but it's not going to be as cool as people think.
You think trolls in CT are bad now...
Currently you can go farm 2nd coil and get one sand/oil and if your static is especially good, 2 of each. All of this in maybe just maybe one or two nights tops. Now, put those same people PLUS people who only farm dungeons at best, together... and make them farm CT2 endlessly. Have any of you been to vegas and seen the slot machines? If sand/oil drops are random, expect to see people endlessly queuing for CT2. Not everyone will do that but, those will be the people that us "average" people have to deal with when playing the new CT.

If a sand/oil *does* happen to drop, expect much unhappiness to play out in party/alliance chat.... lol
Oh and of course, it's bound to happen, expect those very sad people to try to buy you out of the rolling for sand/oil with gil.... Despite the fact that they can't trade with you... lol
i dont see the sand/oil being a problem because ct2 will most likely be similar to the first one in that you have to have a full party. at least for a couple of weeks i would imagine.
as for the buying out via gil, if both parties agree to that, and one doesnt hold to the agreement, GM action can be taken if one goes that route.
You can be placed in parties with people from cross-server...
Not saying anything about what alliance it drops to. Nor am I talking about quantity that will drop or anything of the sort. Just talking about people's behaviors.
Nevermind lol... it's not important... Just was making a small point as to the nonsense that people will probably deal with in CT2. Obviously we aren't doing it yet. Even if I'm right, I don't win a cookie.
Expressing a small thing like this on a forum and being misunderstood is my fault... But if this so easily happens... Just imagine all the miscommunication that will happen in the new CT2 over this very desirable loot, as well as potential arguments...
All these complicated WoW-style drop politics... back in my day when you beat a raid boss, all of its loot dropped onto the ground and had to be manually picked up! And you were competing with 95-200 people for 10-15 drops on a loot table where your item had, if you were lucky, a 1-5% chance of dropping! No need this, greed that, or rolling.
You also probably spent 3-4 hours camping for the boss spawn, then another hour or more PvPing another alliance of 95-200 people for the right to face the boss. If you were lucky, you didn't die so many times as to lose a level, and you didn't drop any of your gear. You might have also got a couple of honorable PKs in and caused an enemy to lose a valuable weapon that you happily took possession of.

Dont forget, but Im pretty sure this time for CT we will be able to queue as a 24man premade. That 'should' help lessen the drama and chaos.
not trying to troll. only way i had joined ct was with full parties, so if it wasnt, my bad. still doesnt take away from people making parties for the purpose of getting sand/oil.
now that they mentioned it will drop sands/oils.. It will probably be just like coil bosses each level drops a certain one 100%.. and im also guessing that ct2 gear will be 110.. just sayin.. it would be pointless other than vanity if it wasn't and people would pass it 100% of the time unless it had vastly superior secondary stats to high allagan or weathered gear.. I personally like the way they did ct last time it was cool having all the different actually mechanics and not just a stupid hack n slash dodge fest ( which is what I detest in this game ) and its great that they are making an alternative route to end game gear ^^ it will help a lot with fail pug coil groups and maybe help a lot with twin fight to get more people actually in coil2

Since everyone who has capped Soldiery every week since patch has all of their items except maybe one, I think (and hope) the new CT drop ilvl 105 stuff. Otherwise ppl would try it, say "Hey that was fun, but I the gear is too bad for me so no need to go there" and wait time is gonna be really long
