Just realized that the Astrolabe is the world with the moon (Menphina) and her hound, Dalamud, orbiting it.
Didn't realise 'Heavy Thrust' gave a 15% damage increase buff until I was around level 35.
i didnt know that increasing quality means getting more exp from craft til i hit lv25 in my 1st DOH which was LTW
Just found out yesterday that you can backup your FFXIV settings from the Launcher.
Config > Backup
No more backing up those config files manually. Thank The Twelve....
I used to think foe requiem reduced my damage....( like the previously learned mages ballad )
didn't know about focus target till Turn 5.
didn't know about sort party feature till Turn 6.
for a bit i was buying everything with tons of STR but im a paladin and realised its a VIT character
Friend noticed it first but..
Never realized until now that monk stances has same animations as Ifrit , Garuda and Titan D:
Fists of Fire = Ifrit's eruption animation
Fists of Wind = When Garuda summon's sisters (She goes and spins around)
Fists of Earth = When Titan does Geo Crush
I didn't know what Transpose did until I ran a couple dungeons and someone told me how to utilize it. Well, I knew what it did, because I read the description, but I didn't know why or how it was useful, because the description, by itself, makes it seem like a "yeah, so?" ability. Sure, there's buff icons for Astral Fire and Umbral Ice, but it's a pain to see what buffs do on PS3. You have to click Select a bunch of times to move the "cursor" up to where the buff icons are, and while I was soloing THM I was usually too busy killing the mobs.
I did not know this until I read your post. I have now added that icon to all of my DoH hotbar sets.
Wondering how you would know how to flank a target or be behind them if they had no side or back...then a friend told me about the target icon has an arrow that shows which way the target is facing so I can always find their flank/rear now. <face palm>
When riding a mount, you can press the attack stance button to automatically dismount. For PS3/PS4 it's L3 (click in the left anologue stick)
Wow I didnt know that......i would normally scroll all the way to the icons and manually click it off
As a noob, I had too many of these moments... So many that I can't remember all of them... But here goes the five more important ones:
1- After playing my first days (I only achieved level 7 in four days...) trying to understand the controls and the targetting of the gamepad, finally I discovered I could stop that damn annoying "auto sheathe/unsheathe weapon" every x seconds, and also destroy the damn set of targeting and make my own targetings with L1+ circle, L1 + triangle, etc....
2- After a month running to all the places with my fisher level 35, while my arcanist was only 23.... I discovered there were retainers to save my things! Instead of selling to NPCs! I discovered there were also chocobo porters, so I could use them for moving for some zones instead of ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuun....
3- Discovered the engineering and survival manual of the grand company... After already having a lot of crafting and gathering classes upgraded with sweat.
4- One day.... finally... I discovered the expert delivery... before that, my best way of obtaining seals was... Doing FATEs in Aleport....
5- It was almost two months after playing that I discovered the instances were shared with people of other servers... I remember it as if it would be yesterday, someone asked in Brayflox longstop from which server we where and I just replied: "Erhm... from Lich... Like... Everyone?"
Anyone have a nicely organized list of all the posts the UI dev has posted over the last year or so. Every so often people ask if we can do this or that. And he sometimes makes posts about things that are already in the game, and how to type certain commands to do certain things. He had a lot of different commands for sorting items, and I'm wondering about those. Just curious. I think camate is always posting his posts, so might be a choir to go back and look at all of his posts lol.
This read his the best...
I just realized, after playing since beta, if you hold the "X" key on the keyboard, all the names of above the characters will be gone except for your own and your party members. This makes finding someone in a group cluster of people (like the toll or in front of the retainer bell) much easier.
Same here... I didn't sell ANY gear since I came back to 2.0 from legacy because I just couldn't bother to write down all the numbers. Then I finally do it for a good 3 days before figured that out.
That's... I didn't know... /facepalm
WHAAAAAAT!!! It isn't Bluefrog????
OMG... /cry
I haven't had any of these moments in XIV, perhaps because it's not my first MMO. However, my first MMO experience, I had two of these moments, one of them the very first day.
First day - I tried talking to NPCs, did not understand they weren't players, felt ignored, jaded, got ticked off, until later it clicked. Yeah..
Similar to yours, I gave away perhaps a small fortune by vendoring off items that I accumulated until I discovered the Auction House system.
Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but it took me a few rounds of Wolves' Den matches to realize I wasn't constantly getting matched against someone named "Fresh Meat."
Realizing that I could get to Vesper Bay via the docks in Limsa Lominsa right next to the Arcanist's Guild instead of teleporting to Horizon and running all the way there.
...after I had finished all the 2.1 Story Quests and had very little additional need to ever go to Vesper Bay ever again.
Just realized your Chocobo Companion sings the chocobo tune when you switch him between the four stances (Healer, Attacker, Defender, Free Stance.) Of course you wont be able to get Rank 10 barding if you do this but who needs barding when you have a singing chocobo...
(I still want the barding /weep...)
When I first got one of my characters THM up to the mid 20s I use to use swift cast scathe as a friend told me it quadruples the damage... Why did I listen to them lol
A fc mate didn't know need beat greed he's been playing 6+ months
Learned in Jan of this year, after playing since launch, that a PLD doesn't block mobs if they are to your side or behind you. *dunce hat*
I'm still a noob, and I still take time understanding stuff by doing research, but my biggest frustration before I found the courage to enter my first dungeon was tab-targeting. I didn't understand how to cycle and couldn't switch targets effectively that I had to use the mouse to click on the mobs. then I re-read the basic controls in the lodestone and realized that I wasn't pressing the A/button 1 to confirm my selection... :P
Sweet, thank you :D I've been leveling a THM so I can get it for my WM and wasn't looking forward to grinding past thirty.
First time I was playing XI, I was getting ready to log off... spent like 30mins trying to find out how to save...
mine has to be the ability to mount your companion ..... dont know when they implemented it, but only found out yesterday
