I'm in favor of making aetherytes the only place your allowed to teleport, not removing anima.
If it takes more than 5 minutes to get to 1, then you either got lost/or occupied IRL.
Oh...no...you...didn't.

Err, have you read any posts besides your own? There are posts both above and below you arguing that teleporting should be removed from the game. If that takes too long -- oh, delicious irony -- here's the thread title:So, you're wrong. Some people are asking for teleportation to be removed.Quote:
With airships and chocobos take away teleporting!
/sigh
Couldn't resist the caps lock and exclamation points, could you?
You say "nobody is asking for teleportation to be removed." Well, who's asking for SE to start us at level 50? Who's asking for us to have the best weapons given to us? Who's asking for players to be made invincible?
Nobody. In fact, you're the only one that's mentioned them at all.
At this point, you're not even making an argument. You're just trying to be insulting.
In case you still don't understand what I'm saying, let me show you with another post in your style:
There. See how silly that is? See how unconvincing it is? If you've got an argument, feel free to make it. But if you're just going to tell me what I think, you're going to have a hard time actually winning that argument.Quote:

Yo momma is so skinny, she has to wear a belt with spandex pants. :D
I think anima should have never even been conceived in this game. Then we wouldn't have to have this argument...
I said nobody.. and that guy you quoted is nobody to me (Actually I don't know who it is (Joke)). But your taking my comments and generalizing them with that guys poor suggestion.. I did not say I wanted to abolish teleporting.. but teleporting as we know it right now in FFXIV is stupid and asinine. Oh and btw.. "Where the frack is my indestructible armor? im sick of dying! its so inconvenient!" This is what you and your followers sound like.. constantly whining about how long shit takes and how its too hard and we need to know mob levels up front and if they aggro and OMG i cant figure out enmity on my own i need a gauge... This is how an Adventure game works.. especially Final Fantasy.. so when people who love final fantasy come to play Final Fantasy.. this is what they expect... Generally anyway. After getting all of the rest of this hand holding bullshit.. we may as well take everything else remotely challenging out of the game and just make it a powder puff fest.. Wah Wah, if ANima (Which is clearly a fail attempt at throwing something in until chocobos and airships are put in) is gone I'll actually have to walk, chocobo or use an airship.. and it will take 5 minutes. Wah wah boo wahh...
I do not want to ruin your game, I simply don't want to play "Final Fantasy Fail" and I dont see how you guys cant meet us in the middle and add in quests for extra anima. or any other idea we've had. There is a reason most of the population that came to play is gone and part of it is THIS CRAP. YOU guys have no imagination. Try taking ADD meds.
There is a reason that people in XI carried warp cudgels and whatnot along with using outpost warps, chocobos and airships/ferries. With the new encampments and other additions to the game there might be more uses for chocobos and hoofing it around. Chocobos will probably be more useful once the smaller towns become more relevant.

This is how FFXIV should be, full of adventure. no more safety nets, just plain ol danger and adventure. done. Running to Valkurm at rank 10? what a challenge! Traveling to jeuno at level 18? man... what an accomplishment! learning teleport? so nice.. Getting handed anima since day 1? STUPID. Can we please also paint every zone in FFXIV gray as well? The colors are really inconvenient because they make my PC lag.
Thanks
How does the fact that I choose to use the majority of my 2 hour game session to party, fight, craft and farm and the minority of my 2 hour game session traveling interfere with you choosing to use the majority of your 2 hour game session traveling and the minority of your 2 hour game session partying, crafting, fighting, farming?
Why should the option to travel fast be removed from us when you already have the choice to not travel fast if you prefer?
No one is trying to stop you from doing those things, why are you trying to stop others from traveling there in other ways?
When I have one or two hours to play, I would like to use that time to play in a party for example, not use the limited time I have in getting to the party.
If you would like to use your game-time traveling instead of actually partying, go do so, no one at all is going to try to stop you.
Longterm when everyone is bored of this game because of all the hand holding and nobody (including me) except for you (including that other guy) wish there were people playing but there is not (except you two) and there is no point in playing anymore, this is how anima ruins the game for me (and everyone else (except for you two clearly)). People played (and still play) FFXI religiously almost to the very end (until SE ruined it), People leave Wow every day for other games but once they find they SUCK just as bad they feel they might as well go back to Wow where they already have time invested. The route this game is taking will end up being one of those crappy games that fail miserably to wow (Like AoC).. and I bet people will STILL be playing FFXI (which started before AoC and is still in play even though AoC is now FTP (if it is even running anymore)).
I still think we should have teleport's but i think they should do away with anima and make people pay for ports.
What you do not understand is that more people will play a game when they can actually log on and play the game in the time they have to play.
When most of their time will be spent traveling in order to be able to play the game, that is when fewer people will want to play because they will not have the time left to play the game - it was all spent on traveling.
*Clicks the dislike button* Anima isn't an unlimited resource. People have been begging for chocos and airships, not just 'cause they're cool, but because we run out of anima quickly. Therefore there is NO need to take teleporting away. Its hardly as though we'll never use chocos and airships just because we can teleport. Even people who HAVE anima like to save it in case they REALLY need to get somewhere in a hot hurry, and thus wont even wait until they've run out to utilize chocobos or airships.
Yeah except for all the people who are still traveling in FFXI and have been for like 9 years. Its called earning things like a warp cudgel and doing quests for OP posting man.. im not saying you shouldnt have an easy way to travel, what i am saying is you should just have to do a little work to get it(more then having a friend or simply stumbling upon a TP crystal). All of these things give us more things to do in game? dont people want more things to do in game? why is this not a good solution to what some of us see as problem? Not only do you still get to have all of your anima (and maybe even MORE after you earn it) but you actually have something to do in game instead of killing 3 second pop NMs all day long... your easy travel is THERE you just have to take it! instead of just having it shoved down your throat. I'm sure you will find one sentence out of this paragraph though and twist it to your liking.. that's what you've been doing anyways.
I agree with what your saying. BUT if they keep anima make it like it was before they lowered the cost even more. Like when it cost 12 anima to port to some places we need to be able to make people wanna use choco's it got to a point even on FF11 where OP warps > choco's cause they lowered the cost of warps. Even after i had enough warps Ariships and choco's was a waste of time.
Sorry, but spending hours trekking over the same old landscape a zillion times when I'd rather be fighting or making something is NOT my idea of adventure. Running to Valkurm at lvl 10 was only an 'adventure' the very first time you do it. After that you've learned the path and what to avoid and its easy and time-consuming and dull. The teleport system still makes us make that very first adventurous journey, but saves us from the dull repetition of this journey.
You must not port around much. During any period of consistent play, I run around with an average of 0 anima. Even after they lowered port costs I've been running on foot lamenting the lack of chocobos. So why not SEE how much chocos get used or not, rather than changing port costs based on speculation?
None of the comment that you quoted said anything about me. I'm simply pointing out that everyone is going to get really bored of this game quick if we keep making it as casual as you would like it to be. I'm sure there will be a handful of people still playing.. but it will never live up to FFXI's reputation. And 9 years of this??? FFXIV will never last half that if it continues to be as casual as it is now and becoming.
Plenty of people will use them whether you use them or not. And plenty of people will use them whether they still have anima or not. I have many friends who run everywhere on foot because they have this weird obsession with keeping as much anima as possible in the unlikely event that they might need to port all over the place suddenly. And there's those who just like to keep some saved up. And then there's people like me who don't have all day to run around and end up spending it all in a week.
I Still agree with you tho i think both arguments are right in a sense but people not using another feature over another is bad design. I also feel like if people do not wanna ride yellow birds they should make you pay to recharge anima kinda how you pay to recharge the rings from star ocean.
This is only one small part of it.. you really think im only talking about anima when i say all this casual play?
@Crica - People who don't know better will abuse the anima (as well as the other casual features being implemented), quickly get through the game and get bored. Have you not lived on this earth for more then 15 years? look around you, more then half the world doesn't know wtf they are doing on a daily basis, most of these people need to be told what to do in order to get through life safely. Unless we prevent it from happening, its going to happen. why cant we just put a quest in for? why? why cant we? why wont you answer that question? you dont want more questing? Its not like the quest has to have a boss at the end of it with 99999 Health or something before you can have 100+ anima. Its just a creative way in giving us anima as well as something to do in game. why do you keep ignoring this? why?
with the way things are going soon you will be accruing 20 anima a day and then 100 a day... and some how you will find a way to accrue 101 a day even though you can only hold 100. they are already making return cost 0 anima.. how lame is that? Nobody goes into a dangerous zone without having to escape OR DIE.. that's simply lame.
