[Fun] Why do you use a female character?

In any game that allows character creation I generally roll a male character that closely resembles myself in RL. I do this typically because in all the cartoons/anime/fantasy movies that I've ever watched, I've always wanted top be apart of those epic battles. So to kind of live out that nomadic hero lifestyle I fantasize about.. I create person similar to myself in these games.

But I usually role Female alt because in all of my favorite cartoons/animes/movies there is always that female character that you'd rip your own heart out for to show her how much you love her lol. Or the cool tomboy that you would love to have watching your back. I generally try to capture the essence of both in my female toons.

haha. It sounds to me as if the devs need to quit slacking on the male character designs, gear, and emotes! xD (Anyone else watched a male Elezen dance and said, "Oh... oh god... I'm so sorry!" XDDDD )

My current alt is a Femroe because hyur and mi'cats are super common, I dislike elezens proportions, and I just can't take lalas seriously lol(but I do think the lala WHM in the opening movie is the cutest thing). I also think Roes have some of the most mature, yet elegant facial structures. Despite their dominant physique you can sculpt a really beautiful femroe with the options presented.

Reason: i play a lot and i don't want to stare at a Dudes ass for hours. Thats why i play female chars.

I read a lot of books when I was a kid, and thought it was pretty unfair that there were always male heros and female victims that needed to be rescued. When I eventually started to discover stories and games where it was the GIRL'S turn to do some heroing ("King's Quest IV: The Perils of Rosella" being a prime example), I thought it was AWESOME.

Ever since then, whenever presented with an option to play a male or female character in a game, I generally go with female. I like to think of it as a heroine addiction. :cool:

So, THAT'S why people keep dying on Titan. Instead of zooming out, they stay in to stare at their PCs lady parts.

When I create a character in a game, I'm not creating a virtual representation of me, I'm creating a character I want to play as, so it doesn't have to be male. Since a lot of the games I play give me no choice but to play as a male character (e.g., GTAs, RDR, Uncharteds, Halos), one reason for creating a female character is for a chance of pace. Another reason is because I want a character that I will not grow tired of looking at for the dozens or hundreds of hours I'm playing the game (yes, eye candy is a factor in my decision, I won't deny that). Beyond the eye candy factor, however, the options for male characters generally do not appeal to me.

Don't listen to 'em. I have an Elezen alt that I'm tempted to just abandon all together and use my Phial of Fantasia on my main to change to Elezen. Elezen are underrated, not weird. ;)

Up until gw2 i always played male toons (dont flame me) and when i started losing interest in the game decided to make a female and been making them ever since.Not only do i think in most games they have the better gear selection but i actually care about them if that makes any sense.

I use a female character cuz they're cute and also cuz I'm female in real life.

I have a few reasons why I play a female character in this game.
1.) They look better in some armors.
2.) I like female leads, so why not try to make one myself?
3.) I don't like most of the Male character creation options. The only ones I don't mind are the highlanders and roegadyn, because they don't look like pretty boys.

It all depends on the game though. My general rule is: Western-style games = Male ; Japanese-style games = Female

As mentioned in several threads on here, I made and now main a female character that's based on my favorite singer named Hayley Westenra (and my character looks like the real singer, too!). Plus it's good advertisement for the singer. I also have a female Elezen, a male Miqo'te named Inuyasha Diabolos, and my original main character Naraku who is an Elezen. The female one, Rowena Taheny, is going to be the female version of Naraku (she's not named after Rowena in the game, but another Celtic singer). I won't touch Rowena again until I get stuff done on Hayley and Musketeer is released.

5 of my 8 characters are female. I tend to play female as, in most games, female models in games tend to look better than the male models. In this game, both genders are pretty good.

Depends on the game. In WoW I was a rogue main. Literally all the male models were big bulky men. I just could not see my character sneaking around and stabbing people with what looks like a butter knife next to his forearm that's the size of a 2 liter bottle. Alternatively when I made warriors and paladins, they were fricken jacked and looked pretty sweet in plate armor. That kind of tradition has stuck with me on every mmo I've played. So when I picked up XIV, and saw that I could make a fricken cat girl that fought with sweet ass karate with some claw styled weapons. I felt I had zero choice on the matter. As if the universe already decided my character for me. Now for some reason I'm a white mage. . .

In what other game can you have a neko girl with a tail? Got to take advantage of that opportunity.

I play female because I am female :) And FFXI and XIV seem to have struck a nice balance with regard to female gear. It's not as over-sexualized as some, but still looks feminine and sexy. (Except lalafells, but that's why you make alts)

However, I feel compelled to mention that female highlanders wearing the hempen undergarments make me feel a bit less than heterosexual.

I tend to float towards to females cause i enjoy being a caster more and they tend to look better in robes.

Because I am a female irl... Enough said :)

I generally make one male character, who will be my main, followed by a female character as an alt. It's just a habit I got into when playing games like Dark Souls and Dragon's Dogma, and well, it kinda stuck, haha! It certainly helps with the variety, and certain armor sets look much nicer on women than men, and vice versa.

2 reasons:
1) in 1.0 i created a derplander clone, and there was a lot of clones in eorzea, but i want play a unique charater so i change in female elezen in ARR (very low elezen population = no clones = win)
2) bard and white mage AF. Very ugly on male characters.

I love my elezen! I'm just bothered by the weird head to shoulder proportion. It was easily fixed by some gear and lightening hair through :)

well i just got laid at my own house party, so that rules that one out for me

but you know its bad when i can say i am a more attractive guy than pretty much any male character in Eorzea. i enjoy spending a lot of time customizing my character, and most videogames just don't offer the same amount of customization to males that they extend to females.

I play a female character because I like how I made her, I'm also a female and I play the game with my boyfriend, and he plays a male. Also, nowadays, its easy to be a female on a female toon and not go noticed because a chunk of the population of fem characters are guys. There used to be a time when female players would get hounded (still occurs) for being a female for whatever reason, but nicely enough, that doesn't happen so much with this game. It always seems to me a good portion of the people where ever I go RP wise, is anything but hetero-anything. This game is great, no hassles! The story does change if I make a hot male character though XD but I tend to use those as side characters. My BF's char gets hit on alot, I have to protects him. <3

And that's why sometimes I can't avoid to log in with my secondary character, the cute but deadly marauder lalafell

Well, the main reason is probably because I'm female too... but then I think the male miqotes look awesome, always kind of wanted to make an alt, but then I see how the female lala/miqotes look then I just go ahead and make another one of them. Also, I think most armor looks really cool on female characters. There is some armor which male miqotes rock, but female lalas and miqotes pretty much rock everything.

Yeah, so for me, apart from the obvious reason, it's totally an aesthetic reason. Just like the look of the armor better on female chars.

In one of my first mmos I played since beta up to launch I noticed there weren't many people playing as female characters, so I made one mainly to be different she was tank class also rare at the time but later it leveled off so I made one, played as her for two years then moved on to FF so I basically just remade her over here. *Plus all my friends believe it or not are used to me playing a female character with my trademark blue hair that if I did play as male character it would put them off XD*

I'm playing Girls on almost any MMO and still my life is good. I'm not sorry. Hope not to be one out of ten.

Just ignore him, by responding to him you are giving him exactly what he wants.

My reasons to play a female character?
Meow, could have played a male too, I know, but I just like the female stances and animations better.
