I generally play a male character whenever I can, but it needs to have decent facial hair... The facial hair in this game is pretty sad, so I've been rolling a femaile character with hopes of changing when the salon comes out.

Will we be able to change skin tones? Just wanted to know before I waste my fantasia potion.

I sure hope the salon will let me change my tail.

Any chance that the advent of the Beauty Salon will fix the perma-lipliner on the face/lip color textures? I posted a thread about it a while back, but since it is a vanity thing (and lip color will probably be changeable in Beauty Salon), and something that does impact how I would use the Beauty Salon, I just thought I should mention it here (also, this thread has a crown).

Anyway, the picture below illustrates what I mean:

Basically, it makes using several (if not all, I've picked close to the lips of the face texture color and the moment there's some light reflected, lipliner pops up) of the lip colors not an option if you do not want the "lipliner" effect, and I've looked around on several races/genders and it seems like most of the face options are like this. A solution would simply to have the lip color texture cover the whole lips, or to make separate face options with lips that is the same color as the skin.

What I want to know is where is this hair style?

The one in the lower left hand corner. Her hair clearly goes down to her elbows which is long enough for me!

Also saying it is "impossible" is BS lol. All they would have to do is slide the hair down. It is not impossible...it is more so "impossible" to do without having massive clipping issues apparently. :P

Please do not tell us we will be getting many "long hair styles" then say that arm pit length is long. Unless you mean waist length...since the female roegadyn has waist length. =P I'd be happy with having that length (Not the hairstyle, widows peak is really groce) on my highlander =P

What about muscle tone sliders for all races? You can't tell me that miqo'te, lalafell, and elezen don't have muscles. >_> And it doesn't change the actual shape of the body at all, so it really shouldn't be that hard...

I just want them to unlock all hair styles for every race/gender. No reason a man roe can't have buns.

Everyone else's is cool....but I feel like they give Roegadyn males crap hairstyles just to troll us, like what the hell is up with that above pic? There's only like 2-3 good ones currently, imo.

Ugh, I hope these aren't restricted to only one race, I seriously covet those Elezen hairstyles but don't want to be so tall. xD

Face paints: Runny Mascara,
Teardrop under an eye,
Happy Clown,
Sad Clown,
Solid eyeliner,
Under-the-eyeliner,
joker-style cheek-cut-smiley,
silhouettes of the Final Fantasy title pictures (for example, the meteor on the Final Fantasy VII title) painted on the cheek,
2-color eye shadow,
2-color fireball around one or both eyes,
stylized eye makeup (for example, Egyptian style eye makeup)

Best case would be to be able to place the design of the face paint anywhere on the body we want, runner up would be to be able to place the paint anywhere on the face. It would also be cool to be able to pick more than one Face paint if we pick few enough facial features and tattoos.

I am SO excited about the freckles!!! They couldn't have added a better option to the game. :3

Deffo looking forward to the long hairstyles for male, may even Fantasia my cat girl to a cat guy Paladin.

I'm actually surprised the Salon feature is implemented this early from release. I mean, why not include it instantly? It's a big change after all, and very welcome! Still can't help but be surprised about it... :)

Seedseers were mentioned as a possibility back in 1.0, but not sure where that is at this point.

The hairstyle reminds me of Ascot from Magic Knights Rayearth.

The Padjal aren't a special race though, they are just the normal races (theoretically, although all we have seen are Hyur) that were blessed by the Elementals. Only a rare-few become Padjal. They also are eternally child-like in appearance because the power of the forest prevents aging and causing them to be possibly immortal (although can still die due to physical injuries).

I will chime in that I wish for a weight slider. It would keep people from looking so cookie-cutter. :-/

What I really, really want / need to know is if you change hairstyle / hair color, will there be an option to revert to original style / color? I will probably obviously someday want my "original" look back and I can't possibly remember the exact shade of red with the exact shade of yellow highlight I picked, but it would still be so important to me that I can get the same color back. :/

I hope they make these markings optional. I hate the way they look. They look too much like bags under the eyes. Or they could adjust it so they slope more down the nose and towards the corners of the mouth, similar to the cheetah photo instead...

I know that devs absolutely hate borrowing exact styles and things from other games, but I would really like if they could create a hairstyle somewhere similar to this one.

All of the long hair is drawn back and pinned to the back of the head with the little portion that flares out at the top and the bottom portion that kind of hangs down some. My most favored hairstyle for my character, I chose the one closest to it that's available now, but man... if SE added this... /happymode

Miqo'te birthmarks or not, they clash with other face paints and tattoos. While I personally don't mind them THAT much, I'd love them being optional.

Will there be more facial hair options for each face type in 2.1?

I'd like the spaces in between strips of hair on Female Roegadyn to be filled in. Look at the new hairstyle on the dev post. It looks like her forehead just extends to the top of her head. It's unattractive. It could at least look like the side of her head or something in those empty spaces.

I would like to see blush added to facial features and not be part of the face paint options. This can be a natural occurrence as well as a cosmetic one as well as any mole.

If you've been stressing out over getting a crazy haircut or coloring your hair a whacky color in the barber shop and then regretting it later, have no fear!

When we implement the barber shop we will also be adding a feature that will allow you to revert your character back to their original state.

Also, we've seen some ideas about having a sort of "favorite list" for certain options. We think this is a great idea, and while it won't make it in time for patch 2.1, we will be proactively looking into this so we can add something like this in the future!

I hate my character's voice. Can I change it with this feature?

Would love to see more jewelry options. Various sizes and designs of hoops, studs etc.. for your nose, eyebrows, lips, and belly button would be fun to customize. Additionally, being able to change the position of your earrings would also be a great, subtle way to express individual identity.

You may wish to consider naming the feature "Stylist" rather than "Salon" or "Barber" as they portray a preference toward one gender over the other. Keep up the good work, guys.

Much like many others, new hairstyles is a must have, for all races. I personally feel like the Elezen and Roegadyn (especially males of both races) need some good distinguishing hairstyles. Also, one thing that kind of bugs me currently is when your main hair color is really light... the highlight color is REALLY light... and hard to see, even when its black. This may just be with the few hairstyles I've chosen but I dont know. It would be nice to have white hair with some really nice thick bold red highlights instead of some barely noticeable semi-pink highlights that are really hard to see in certain lighting.

I also think that it would be cool if there were more ear options for Elezen/Lala/Roe. It would be nice to let the Miqo's have seperate color selections for both their ears and tails, and added ear/tail shapes would be nice... bobcat tail please!!!

Oh and... can you PLEASE make facial hair it's own feature, and not tied to specific faces... this feature is very annoying and makes it very hard to make yourself look even a little different when everyone has the same face... plus more facial hair options would be awesome!

And as much as I realize changing your voice is probably a fantasia issue... can we please get some decent voices for m. elezen... seriously... of all the old races we seriously got the shaft as far as emotes and movement go... it just adds insult to injury that all of the elezen voice options are ridiculous.

More versions of these would be welcome. :)

I'm just here to express my disappointment that so much effort was spent in making FFXIV ARR more WoW-like (now we're even supposed to zoom OUT more for raids...I'm sorry, whatever they've chosen to call them). We have cartoonish mounts, weapons and special effects, and our CHARACTERS have lost all realism (including their rear ends) while catering to the juvenile desire for bigger breasts and more "punk" hair styles. SE has totally sold out and dumbed down the franchise and we're supposed to be thrilled over a few simple cosmetic changes. It's no wonder everyone at sqeenix is jumping ship. They're making all the WRONG decisions for all the WRONG reasons. It's never right to sell out and if that gets me banned from the boards so be it. Someone had to say it.

I doubt Miqo'te will have a lot of shared hairstyles, since they have no human ears, and their animal ears are part of the hair pretty much.

A lot of their hairstyles seem to be about covering up where the ears would be. Makes me wonder if accentuating it might be a fresh take.

While I'm still a fan of ponytails, I wonder if braid length can also be put in, Elezen currently have those girlish stumps(dunno what to call 'em) and seeing some honest to goodness braids would be awesome. Even more so in the breeze!

That's probably the one thing I need from new hairstyles, sweet sweet movement.
