I feel it's going to come off of gladiator or lancer. I doubt they create a new class for DRK. Paladins are knights and so are Dragoons so i'm sure it will be one of those. Whether they make DRK a tank or a DD will determine which one it derives from. It should be a DD if coming from GLA to be opposite of PLD and a tank if coming from LNC to opposite DRG. Personally I think they should be a tank this go around. It should have a lot of life absorbing abilities of course, and have something like a symbiotic ability. Where the damage dealt from one mob actually happens on whichever enemy you use symbiosis on.
I would guess the new Jobs will come from entire new classes. It promotes low end content which expands the life of the game. (even if most will just FATE grind the new class)
The only reference I've ever found was Yoshi saying that, if they wanted to make a DPS job like DRK come off of GLA, they could just remove the high enmity modifiers when asked about how tank classes could be given DPS jobs. I've yet to see *anything* about changing weapon types, though. Most of what I've seen from the devs actually indicates that new weapon types/combat styles (e.g. 2 handed sword, dual wielding, spear and shield) are going to elicit new classes.
I thought somewhere Yoshi-P said they didn't want to add more classes, just more jobs?
I'm hoping the next tank job is built from Lancer and is parry based. I mean, why else would they have a 80% parry buff?
