Ideal Gearing for Titan HM (WHM)

Sorry to sidetrack here but does anyone know of a link with a comprehensive guide to end-game White Mage gear? I've tried untangling what AF1 vs AF2 vs. Relic vs. Vanya's means. So far, I've got nearly full Darklight, AK gear otherwise, and want to take on Titan, but now I'm concerned there are gear options I didn't even know about!

AK gear and DL up to 3,2k ish HP with either Ifrit's or preferably Garuda's would have you ready for Titan. The more DL, the better. Vanya's is a min-maxer's dream, but it's very difficult to craft optimally. What I would like to know is, where I can get a good shield for Garuda's weapon? The darklight shield from WP seems sub-optimal to me, are there really no better options pre-Titan?

Ther is no other fight before Titan where there is so much group damage going out. Even on garuda, the group is only hit group wide one time, this is not much enmity.Titan, by contrast, is dealing 50%ish of everyone's health every other special attack rigght from teh start. This is easily 16k healing every stomp cycle in phase 1. That is quite a lot of threat.Also, owing to the glitch that some peopel were using (having a whm jump off and LB), there seems to have been a tweak to hate generation in phase 1 (before first jump), but this does not carry through the rest of the fight.

I can, however, tell you, there is no hate reset. I am main pld, I've done the fight endlessly, there is no enmity reset. Watch your threat relative to the best dps in your group during a jump and you'll see it doesn't move. You are underestimating the scale of the damage increase Titan brings compared to earlier content.

Also: PLDs should not lose threat at any point in this fight. Only caveat: whms must use shroud intellegently, but if they are, and you loose threat, its on you.

OP: As a general rule, we suggest new members reach 3.4k hp (while in party) before we take them through titan. This is not the minimum requirement, but we have found that the fight is more or less trivial if everyone in the group is over 3.4k. This is actually enough that even twoards the end you can eat a single sand and stay on your feet. You may look into vitality food, on my server buttons in a blanket is very cheap and offers 12 vit. This is a relatively easy alternative to more time consuming gear acquisition.

I did titan hard mode with only darklight ring, earring, belt, wrist, necklace, the rest ak gear. weapon was the GC ilvl 46 wand and the GC shield. More then enough to clear titan with a competent group. (granted people would say im not geared enough, or they'd blame trouble on heals not being geared--->if this happens, find a better group imo) I got cut from one group, they replaced me and never got titan down, I got picked up by a second and we cleared on the 3rd attempt and so flaunted the staff of craigs just to flex the e-pen. So go figure the original group wanted to re-invite me and help them down titan. /sigh...the life of a healer. cheers

Funny I found this topic because it just came up last night. They would not invite X player because he had 3100 HP. I then healed the next fight (and win) in my Christmas gear and relic with well below 3000HP to show them while HP/gear is nice, knowing the pattern and what to do is what makes or breaks the fight. Not saying I can keep a whole group of people up with that low of HP but I withheld that tidbit. It required a ton of self stone skin and the damage mitigation buffs I knew the party was already using when I boasted I could do it.

When I first finished Titan HM I had mostly my AK dropped gear and accessories. I was still in a few AF pieces though (I think gloves and helm), Ifrit weapon and some level 47 ring (damn you AK never dropping me that ring). I duo healed it with a SCH and we were able to finish it fine.

In the first phase if you use Medica II during hte AoE damage + jump there is a good chance you will pull threat. Just watch your threat and be careful and have shroud ready if you need it (I know it sucks using it early when you don't need mana). I typically have no problems with threat once Titan is pushed into the heart phase though.

I disagree about casting Medica II no more than 2-3 minutes due to fear of getting aggro. Maybe this fight is different than Garuda but I do cast double Medica II on Garuda at some points and have never gotten threat. Nor has the tank complained about my being high on the threat list.

I did it fine with 3k HP--survived to the end. It's all about the whole rest of your party and whether they're able to dodge.

One party member said I had too little HP. He died before reaching Phase 5 -_-0

Garuda doesn't require you to AOE heal your entire team right from the start, whereas Titan does. The difference in hate is huge, Titan you will likely have to Shroud of Saints very early in the fight, I typically have to do it after I Medica for the first jump.

Medica II really shines at the very end of the Titan fight, though. Not only will your hate be low enough after several Shrouds to safely use it and stay in Green enmity, it can usually let you not have to worry about the rest of the party while you keep the tank up for Mountain Buster as long as no one gets hit with more than one Weight of the Land.

Just FYI, if you are using Medica II twice in a row you are wasting MP. Medica II is weaker up-front healing than Medica, but heals more in the long run due to the Regen. If you have the Regen effect already on then Medica will be more MP-efficient.
