If you don't take the time to explore you'll never know what you're missing out on.

I had to pause that video far too much to read due to quick text/bad quality/white text on white background...
them feels...FFXI was my first MMO. Made quite a few friends and one by one everyone left. Stopped playing or joined LS's that had stronger people because they wanted to max out. We had 3 of us left by the end and we all quit at the same time pretty much. It's a little better now, playing with rl friends and my gf, but they always wanna level, I like to take everything in.
Man what memories this video brought back. Thanks for uploading that. That's how I felt playing 11, it was an amazing experience and just thinking back the 5+ years since I've played that game and everything else along with it. Luckily I'm playing 14 with some of the same friends I made in 11 so the feeling of nostalgia isn't as bad. But damn good memories.
allow me to be the party pooper...
I highly doubt the veracity of this video, as the "story" is one I have seen almost word for word elsewhere. even so far as variants that involve soldiers in various wars.
it just comes of as one of those glurgey chain emails, that has a sappy story, that at the end tries to bash you over the head with "Jesus/God wanted you to hear this. Pass it on to 10 friends to show them Jesus is Lord"
oh I love to play games nice and slow as well.. My favorite thing to do is explore. I also eenjoy meeting new people in game and all that jazz, I just find that video, which comes up at least monthly, to be treacly, annoyingly sentimental, and obviously never happened.
Brilliant. :D
I apologize if that is what you took away from the video. Some of us play the game at our own pace and all this video was meant to do was serve as a reminder of how much fun it was for those of us who take the time to explore but sometimes forget why we started playing in the first place.
Everyone plays the game differently, and I won't argue against how you personally play the game. It's just for us adventurer types, that's all =D
This is the kind of game I miss...

I have to admit I did expect XIV to have that XI sorta feeling of adventuring but I dunno, it just seems to have been lost a bit. No matter where you go there will be people rushing through content whether you are or not which kinda makes the game feel so fast paced and more like a race whether you're participating or not. I know it's to be expected in this day and age but I think the saddest part of that video is remembering how games used to be and then comparing them to how games are now.
It's why I like games that are less popular, the community comes together and enjoys the game a lot more. Of course there will always be those bad players who want to race, it's like anything, but it's a lot easier to ignore when it's the odd few rather than a vast amount of people. I hope that the hype for the game will die down a little I really do and I hope people go back to their old games. I don't want an empty game but there is a point where it becomes unhealthy and at the moment it feels very bittersweet.
