Repairs: I can't afford to be nice

I don't particular like how gear "damages" while we're on the subject of repairs here.. I did a test on my SMN. Perfect 100% gear on everything, sent my pet in to attack.. Pet was tanking, had full hate. I did nothing for half the battle before finally casting a couple DoT's to make the fight go faster.. I look at my inventory afterward and see to my bewilderment that I had taken damage in EVERY slot.. Not considerable damage, but every damned slot was down from blue to green condition. I NEVER GOT HIT! Hell I didn't even swing my book at the enemy! It's stupid that ALL of your gear degrades by simply doing ANY action while in combat.

What do you do? NPC fish? Seriously I'm curious as to how you make money. Working the actual player market really isn't a viable solution in the long term right now, you're just exchanging gil currently available, not bringing in new money. (Which is a problem when there are gil sinks, such as repairs.) Unless you're somehow making money outside of the player market, this won't be a solution in the long term.. This is just a way to make some quick gil if you're lucky at best, which just screws over some other poor unwitting sod.

I agree that reducing greatly the impact of wiping in dungeons on ur pocket will be great step towards good DF community.

Wiping barely has an impact on repairs, you loose 3% durability for dieing. You get WAY more repairs for simply being in combat..

I level by doing all quests, i dont think i skipped a single one. I have done ALL my levels of pugilist hunter, One to go for the Flames and I have all tradekills at level 10 or more. I only do FATES to keep me a bit ahead of the curve and amass GC tokens. Honestly the dungeons are were i DO see some damage but even then. I did garuda not too long ago and it only took me 2 group to get thru it. I probably would have 200k if i didnt spend so much on teleport and i have gear that is pretty damn good slot wise. Not best but not the worst. I figure maybe i spent 25-30k on gear alone.

So assuming someone at level 50 doesnt have a nest egg the only thing i can say is that they rushed there and now you are paying the price, literally, because you did skip that content and now you dont have the ressources to manage your gear.

Yea, sorry...but I don't agree with this. The minute you add some grand gil-generating mechanic to lvl 50 play, the economy will start to inflate. It's simple, figure out a way to earn gil for repairs. Don't ask the dev's to create a method of gil-generation to spoon feed gil. Not only will it inflate the economy, but it will give RMT a stone solid reason to level to 50 and exploit said mechanic to fuel their gil selling needs.

This is a perfect way to make Gil that everyone just ignores

However. Being uncival only creats frustration, resulting in everyone's failure. If you can not maintain emotion and be collect, in the long run, you will repair gear more often.

Only if you repair them too early. Self repair is cheaper if you repair at 40% or lower.
But I'm also for dark matter been farmable again. Not with a gatherer class, but in dungeons and primal fights from the chests like in 1.0.
Or maybe as a battle leve reward.
And SE should allow us again to repair other people stuff.
