Why did they stop talking since boards came up?

You know half of their job was discovering what Tanaka's team was doing, that I believe is over now since Tanaka is back working with FFXI. I only believe truly now have they been able to go forward with their vision after making sense of what Tanaka had in store and scrapping some of that crap.

We get regular updates on the things they are working on and the dev tracker seems to have a few more posts everyday. I believe that is called communication. You are just crying your little heart out because you want to know everything now. It's never going to happen.

They do not need to tell you everything because your a player - the end user. They are the developer - they provide the game, you give feedback on what has been implemented. If it hasn't been implemented then you haven't got any first hand experience, therefore your 'feedback' is worthless.

I'm really having trouble understanding why you think your opinion is that important. So far the only opinion you have expressed in this thread is that the game has already failed. I'm glad they aren't taking your advice otherwise they would have all given up already.

SE will make this into a good game or it will fail. Those are the only two options. Yoshi-P calling you personally at the end of each day to let you know what he's done won't change the outcome. Personally, they could stop the letters from the producer and community posts all together. I bought the game to live in the world they made for us and I will continue playing to see what they have up their sleeves.

Either way, I'm finished with this conversation. I've got to get back to the game rather than sit here listening to complaints that are the product of nothing more than impatience.

I've never said something like that, I trust SE as a softwere house that developed most of my favorite games of all times, actually I think that FF14 right now is lacking of content but is still enjoyable at it's current state (I was in favor of improving the current battle system rather than making a new one from scratch, but oh well let's see how it ends up).
I have no doubt this game is gonna rock sooner or later, SE already got all of my respect from the developing point of view, but it's undenyable that their communication strategy sucks.
On the forums people are eager to give their ideas, they are speculating about everything, the devs just mentioned "Job System" and countless threads started speculating on them; whenever they give us a date for a patch people start speculating on what is gonna be about and most of the times they end up disappointed.
In game it's even worse, those that are playing are clearely enjoying the game as it is, but they're unsure about its future and after all this time they just want to know where it's heading, you can feel the stress in every party.
There is clearely a problem with their communication strategy, they just can't go on teasing the people every now and then, cause sepculations always leads to hype that most of the times leads to disappointment.

I think communication is excellent personally.

With every single feature they may or may not add to the game people will daydream and imagine how the feature might work, and get ideas in their heads of how they want it to be.. But the thing is, everyone thinks differently. Everyone will have their own idea of what's best. Everyone has their idea of what they want.. And then the feature is released and it's not what people imagined, and some people won't like it. It will happen with everything.

SE can't give us more information on something than they're able to. They don't want to make promises they can't keep.
And so, people will daydream. It's no one's fault really. You could blame SE for not doing more than they're able to.. which is kinda pointless. >.> Or you could blame people for imagining what things might be like and getting excited.
Either would be unfair. Things are as they are. SE is doing the best they can.

To those saying they shouldn't post any particulars, look at the Japanese Letter from the Producer's views. Letter from the Producer VI had 69,000 views while Letter from the Producer VIII has only 30,000 views, people are losing interest rapidly. Something needs to be done to bring people back.

A list of particulars won't bring people back to the game. An actual update with the amendments will.

Again, tell me how are we supposed to give feedback, opinions, suggestions, ideas on something we don't know anything about? I highly doubt SE reads these forums and takes ideas directly. What likely happens is Yoshi-P has a vision for the future of the game, he has a plan and he's going to more or less stick strictly to that plan. We can't change that. However, by posting our thoughts on what we already have, and what we want in the future, he can take that vision and use our posts as inspiration for the actual implementation of the vision.

We all have ideas for improvements for the game, some get responses others do not. But I am sure a vast majority of them are at the very least read. Our ideas will fuel the inspiration for when Yoshi-P implements his vision.

An example would be classes right now. We all have ideas for improving the classes that we play and while we all know the entire battle system is changing, and maybe even the class system, Yoshi-P can still be inspired by our wishes. If you think something is too powerful, then post it. If Drain sucks, tell them why. Even if Drain is removed or redesigned entirely, they can use your suggestion elsewhere in the game. Maybe your suggestion to improve Drain can help improve Siphon MP, or other spells, whatever they may be.

Just because we don't know all of the changes they plan to make doesn't nullify the value of feedback. It can very much be used as inspiration, you're not going to change his vision anyways.

this site gets more dev hits then WoW.'s does. And they have been communicating AND doing crowd control in threads. Like the thread everyone was up in arms over nms being too easy, or about the dungeons. They gave us info that when the ps3 is out there is a very good chance the missing genders are added. And that was something on ppls minds since pre launch, heck pre alpha. They are not going to give us a point by point detailed discussion on what everything will be. The reason is due to players will do things differently then how devs envisioned.

Case 1: Yoshi-p post letters after 1 moth, as now:
"yoshi-p is a bad person, he don't communicate, the game has failed".

Case 2:Yoshi-p write 2 letters a week:
"why he's losing time writing shitty letters with all the work he need to do ?! Omg the game is really doomed now".

you can see it incoming a mile away -_-.
