Who would you rather heal? WAR or PLD?

I think with the current mindset that the masses are forming, if I had to go into a random party, I would prefer to heal a Shield Oath Paladin.

Also partying regularly with a great Warrior without healing issue.

Tis' as I said in other threads, that if the Warrior relies solely on the healer for healing, it may impact the healer.

WAR, no doubt. I don't know if the job is just easier than PLD, but I have yet to come across a bad WAR tank. Maybe PLD is just more gear dependent as you level or something.

Exactly. I prefer PLD from personal experience. Have had many bad WAR tanks, but I have seen a few good ones, and I've seen a few bad PLD as well. As long as he's holding aggro and takes care of his team I'd heal him all the way to Bahamut.

edit: I don't know if WAR has AoE attacks, but it seems CC'd enemies NEVER stay CC'd with WAR around.

I've met a few very good warriors and up to now I prefer them over paladins.
If they know how to time cooldowns they are gold.
The large health pool helps along with that they seem to be better at keeping aggro.

That said my paladin experience has been pretty bad.
Especially when it comes to hate and picking up adds on a boss.

For me it is a PLD. I can then sleep some targets and know they'll stay asleep =)

WAR seem to hold aggro better, PLDs mitigate better and I don't have to babysit them as much with all their cooldowns.

Either or really, depends on the fight.

This should really be the story the thread over.
PLDs that are well played have the slight edge for me because if they are well played threat is still not really an issue... only exception is the tonberry fight as mentioned earlier

I have had no trouble healing either one of them. My experiences show that paladins take less dmg though

Important to remember...

PLD and WAR are two totally different tanks.

PLD are your Boss tanks and best suited for single target. They are designed to get SLAMMED and survive by Heavy Armor and a Shield to Block. They can absolutely handle trash but this is accomplished by a lot of tab-targeting and manually focusing on each target.

WAR are your AoE damage dealing trash tanks (I still love my WAR tanks on Bosses so don't get upset). They hold threat better and easier on a large group of mobs than a PLD can.

My point is they work the best TOGETHER. I heal more often on a WAR because they aren't blocking. On PLD I get a chance to take my finger off of my cures and prepare for the burst damage (In tandem with a SCH)

WAR PLD WHM SCH are meant to work together in our raids

I personally find paladins easier to cure due to them taking less damage due to higher mitigation, paired with a lower health pool that requires less intensive healing due to the very low damage they receive. I find that a good tank has no threat issues regardless of their class, and I do love that each tank has its pros and cons and so are situational.
