Best 'FAIL LAUNCH' in MMO history

That's a moronic statement considering I was around for the World of Warcraft original launch and this game's original launch well over a year or a year and a half ago. World of Warcraft launch was smooth as butter in comparison.

Also the main problem this game has can be fixed with a simple afk script every other MMO has except for the two SE has made. They must be hard headed as hell we gave them feedback then and told them the original lauch would fail... deaf ears same story now and they still refuse to fix it, you deserve to go down if you don't listen to players.

Worst MMO launch ever? No

Anarchy Online still holds that title.

True they could've done a better job at launch. They claim that they expected the population to grow gradually when every single mmo launch post WoW has seen it's peak population at launch and a steady decline after the fact. Guess they didn't do their research.

At least they're now pretty much taking responsibility for the whole thing and giving a deadline for things to improve. Most companies don't do that.

Then again, most companies don't ban a client for asking for US servers, and ban said client claiming he's a racist. This happened to me on the original launch of FF11 when they had ZERO US servers on the NA launch date.

I had my reservations about this title due to my past experience with SE, but alas, my friend's who were in the Beta talked me into at least trying it.

I got, in total since launch 2004, 27 free days on my WoW account due to various problems that went on for months and months and months.

SEs launch is bad but not the worst. Actually the last 4 MMOs I've played have had unsuccessful launches.

Have any of them had to re-package and re-launch again over a year later? Didn't think so.

I write my opinion, dont like it? Just dont read.

WoW launch issues? I played WoW through Mists of Pandaria expansion and had no issues with any patches or expansions except BC for a couple hours. I did not start WoW on initial launch, but I had many friends that did and they were not locked out of the game for hours on end unless there was a massive patch which happened within a day or two, not a week after these problems were showing themselves.

To be honest I'm not sure how this wasn't caught before launch when hundreds of thousands of peoople had issues with the pre-order code servers, if you can't even handle people to retrieve pre-order codes do you expect their game servers to be handle the load and now they are acting like they can't believe how many people are subscribing. Also they are claiming the server will even be overloaded for a few hours after the patch, shouldn't they realize that patches should be plenty and often so maybe instead of screwing people over and over again they should fix this from the start.

It isn't expected that their shouldn't be log-in issues, but I can't remember a game where you couldn't log in for a period of a week without spamming log-in for 5-6 hours.

I don't really get why people always say that. If you compare this to 1.0 it is functionwise a completely different game. Only the graphics/animations are the same. Everything else has changed.

They did screw up, yes. Nobody denies that, but there has to be a reason why there was no afk script to begin with. It has most likely to do with the PS3 version. I don't really know what SE is planning to do, but I'm sure they have a better view on things than any of us has. Just pray that those guys find a solution fast.

The PS3 version has nothing to do with it. A simple script can kick you back to the character select screen and it would not at all interfere with XMB or any other part of the PS3. They say an auto kick is disrespectful, same story 11 years ago at FFXI launch only now it's on a massive scale (more players), I hope they open their eyes and stop being hard headed or we'll have a 3.0 launch in another year or two.
