I logged off Goblin at 5am EST, tried to log back in to just check, 1017 at 5am. Not sure why an idle kicker was never implemented. without it 1017 is going to take awhile to go away even with new servers.

Aye, I agree with you guys on the whole inactivity check / kick thing. I had came here to make it it was being brought up, thankfully it is.
In the previous Final Fantasy Online games, players got used to leaving their characters logged in because we had a personal bazaar of sorts that we could sell items from.
This game however has no such feature, and leaving characters logged in does nothing but tie up a connection slot. Now due to the login problems, players have figured out the servers don't remove them so they are more than willing to AFK and eat up a connection slot, only compounding the login issues. I can't say I blame them honestly, even though I'm usually on the short end of this stick not being able to login and play.
It needs to be fixed however: After 20 minutes of inactivity (no moving, no chatting, no interaction with the UI) the server should give that inactive player a 5 minute warning regardless of their set search status. Once the 5 minute window is up, that inactive player should be kicked off the server, back to the Character select screen.
75% player, 20% quad-boxer, 5% afker, 50% gold famer bc they hax mai percentz.
The developers said in previous posts that they will AFK kick. They are focusing on their wednesday maintenance first. Also, it's labor day so not a lot of people have work today.
I'm another one who is unable to even get past the start screen. After 15 seconds, an error 2002 window pops up & automatically closes the client.. sigh T_T Really discouraging since I played for about 12 hours yesterday with zero problems.
This may come as a shock to people that don't have a job, school, etc, but today is Labor Day which is a holiday, and many people that would otherwise be at those previously mentioned occupations are instead taking the day off. So effectively, you should treat this as a Saturday/Sunday in terms of the kind of day it is. It's not a typical Monday.
The one time code space is for the authenticator. Buy one. They are usually about 7 or 8 dollars. I have one on all my games and you run less chance of being hacked.
IMO I really think they should kick all afkers from the game. It is a holiday for the US but the holiday is not the issue. Kicking afkers would solve half the problem with the servers. And they should have someone running around zapping bots already too. I've been trying since 9am est and it's now 2 hours later and still 1017 or 2002 errors. But people seem to think that moving servers will help. In the long run it is only temporary if it works at all. If you got on a server to play with friends, you would want to keep playing with them. Otherwise, what fun is the game alone? So that means SE has to get entire groups to want to move. That simply doesn't happen because your friends have other friends who have other friends... etc. Copy one server to another server and allow people to pick which one they want to play on. People just don't want to start over again. I don't.
I guess my FF experience for my days off this week will be talking about the game, instead of playing it.
