To the people who are logged in overnight

You can blame SE for the following - Not taking into consideration all of the metrics provided from previous betas and preorders, not implementing an AFK kick, server caps. I'm not blaming SE for my want to stay logged in, I'm blaming them for the circumstances that allowed this to happen and made it viable.

Plus, if I'm logged out in a sanctuary, I'm getting my rested XP, whether I'm logged in or out. It's an unfortunate fact that, given the opportunity, people will take advantage of an issue like this. In this case, everyone loses. Either I stay logged in so I can play, or I log out and have no idea when I'll be able to log back in again. This same thing goes for everyone.

Ugh been trying to log in for fourty minutes now, weekends suck. I had made a side character to use when my main world is too full but even that server is full. I am cries. I'm getting 1017 and 2002 errors. :<

Sharing is caring, people. I learned how to share toys when I was 3. Sharing time is not that far away a concept that it should confound and baffle you.

Short answer: because there's no even remote guarantee that we'll be able to get back on when we come back to play.

I actually logged out last night because I knew I wouldn't be back for about ten hours - got home this morning, sure enough, unable to retrieve NA/EU server list. Meanwhile my roommate, who stayed logged in when he went to bed, is happily murdering away in the other room.

In other words, stop blaming other players for doing what's currently necessary to be able to play the game with some level of consistency right now, and blame Square-Enix for completely screwing the pooch on capacity planning and server architecture.

This. I logged out last night, because I wasn't going to be playing for ~10 hours. Now, world full error for last 2 hours. I'm just going to stay logged in once I get in for the whole weekend, as it is a holiday weekend.

I log out at night, but honestly, if i need to go to the store for an hour, i'm going to AFK.

They didn't force your hand, you chose to stay in, there's nothing preventing you from hitting "Log Out" or "Exit Game", if anything you're hurting yourself by not getting a proper rested bonus by staying logged in.

SE is the only one to blame. It was in their hands to spend more money for a better server infrastructure.

there is a reaason. Wanting to be able to play tomorrow is a good reason to stay loggged in. and methinks you might do the same

If not for a storm and our power going out, I'd still be happily logged in after sleeping and be able to enjoy this game. Unfortunately, now I can't even get the server list. Before that, for about 30 minutes, it was Lobby errors. I hope I get in soon though, as I want to play.
