Yes, people keep pointing to it as a passtime... But the game in its entirety is a passtime. I don't need a passtime within a passtime.

Others point to the FEW meager uses for a SCANT number of fish... While all other gatherers can find some use in EVERYTHING they collect.

I want fishing to be MORE useful, MORE worthwhile.

I don't want 95% of the catches to be 1-5gil vendor garbage.

As an idea, in FFXI we had legendary rods and fish. Now I'm sure they are here too but I haven't really gotten to fishing but how about a battle on a sea shore that could only be started by a maxed fisherman? Fishing up a legendary fish and the mother comes in to save the fish? Or you use that legendary fish as bate to reel up the monster to fight!

I was sad when I discovered how little I could earn from fishing. It's more enjoyable than mining or botany, but far less profitable.

I don't have as much, but a lot of my retainers' inventory is filled with fish that I can't auction and can't stand the idea of vendoring, so I know where you're coming from.

I totally agree. I understand the paranoia about bots, but it seems like the system now would do a pretty good job at deterring them. 95% of the fish I've caught, and I am now a level 44 fisherman on a new server, have been worthless. I have a really good spot to make some money right now, but I doubt that'll last. Fish as a whole are pretty pointless aside from filling up your own fishing log as an achievement. I get that that's the new direction for fishing, and I do like the challenge and hunt of it all, but I do think fishing should still be considered a lucrative career instead of just a pointless hobby.

Let level 50 fishermen have a small chance to fish up treasure chests or even allagan silver pieces and stuff for instance. Give us a fisher NPC who rewards us for catching legendary fish! Give us more RELEVANT recipes that require rarer fish.

I'm just a guppy in a sea of sharks, but i do have great expectations for my fishing days ahead than being haggled by Sisipu into the salted herring market! If i can cast my line from the top of the upper decks for Coral Butterflies there shan't be limits to the abyss depths monstrosities I might be able to reel in! We need to be able to show it off!
