Post your tanking derps and herps here!

Doing that guildhest that teaches you how to deal with roaming trash packs. I figured it would be like a regular dungeon so i sneaked past about 5 groups to get to the boss with my group. Soon as I pulled, the entire room with all trash aggroed me and i couldn't even say "oh shit" before I was destroyed.

Hitting the chat box with the mouse and wondering my abilities are firing up only to find 123123123444123123145543 in the chat log.

First time fighting Gaius, I mistook his blue fire effect for sacred soil.

My biggest derp is not leaving parties whenever people gave me shit, but that has been rectified. Thank god for the duty finder.

My axe went to 0 dura at boss in copperbell so I couldn't hold hate. This one is not mine but a tank I had in brayflox: he keeps spamming rage of halone without fast blade or salvage blade and can't even hold hate on dragon boss.

My very first attempt at tanking, I had no clue what that whole being-locked-in-one-spot business was about during a few times and especially that boss fight... which means I didn't get the concept of being stranded if I ran into them while my party was still catching up and then got locked out just to watch me die a brutal death. I did not have a happy party for that first run. That might be an understatement.

I mistook sacred soil for his blue fire (inverted lol). Although it's more like, me thinking that every blue circle was his lol. Luckily he warps everywhere anyway. So no big issues lol.

My own derp moment was during wanderer's palace with some linkshell members. Did the entire dungeon without any issues until we reached tonberry. Where everyone's grudge kept killing me.

Party going

- "Yeah we need a tank with more hp. Your 3.8K hp isn't going to do it Ron"
- "Hold on, let me see if I can swap some gear"
*opens his equipment screen*
-"...Whoops! I forgot to use all of my tanking accesories...That was my solo DD gear hahaha...."

Fun fact...I tanked all my level +40 instances with that setup *cough*. Luckily I'm a good tank.

ps: we also figured out that my HP wasn't really the issue for that fight.

Tanked Ifrit on my CNJ... not sure how, delayed healing for tank to build threat and I don't think I overhealed the entire fight, but I had him from first heal to finish. Not sure if it counts as a derp tank story, but I thought I'd share. It was hilarious at the time, I don't think the dps was impressed though I wasn't prepared to be positioning a boss.

Was in Copperbell Mines and before and after this run I tanked fine....tanked Ifrit with no deaths and good positioning....but this one Copperbell run kicked my ass.

The Pugilist was doing his own thing, so that might have been the reason...I got overfrustrated...but here is what transpired:

During the 1 million mobs fight I died....then the green slime fight I was too slow to get out of the his blast radius...then the last boss I hit sprint and just couldnt get aggro back from Pugilist....didnt help that this Pugilist decided to stay on the boss the entire time rather do his job and kill the giants at the wall....either way, it was a HORRIBLE DERP experience....lol

BLK Mage in the group. Every fight - I pull. He sleeps. I Overpower to get group agro, and wake up sleeper. He kept sleeping every pull and I woke up everyone of them. We never said a thing about it the whole dungeon run. I kept thinking, maybe he'll figure it out and wait until after I over power. He was probably thinking, maybe he'll figure it out and not overpower after I cast sleep....

Wipe free run though. Win (if awkward) in my book.

On my first run of Brayflox's Longstop. I didnt even have remote problems with aggro until the toad boss got eaten by the big dragon. I was just like WTF!!! 3 secs later the healer was eaten as well. I appologized but the healer went totally aggro and left the instance :(
