moot.
not accounting people playing the game,
japan + southeast asia + india has nearly 2 billion population.
excluding china, korea, oceanic region.
I think the point being made is the 8:1 ratio, which is not reflected in server accessibility. I think there is also some validity in that it would be nice to have a separate data center for EU and NA populations.
We don't know the actual numbers of player distribution across NA+EU and JP servers, but it's safe to assume that OP is right about the vast majority of players being on the NA+EU cluster. That's why our servers are wheezing and sweating while JP servers have been very stable... I'm sure they'll adress this after/if FF XIV is successful enough to warrant spending money on more servers. I wouldn't want to be among the guys responsible for running the NA+EU data center.. they must've pulled at least a few all nighters trying to fix this mess lol.
I just want to say... America have more countrys that mexico, usa and canada. In fact it have 35 countrys. Just to let it clear.

But op is right.
OP isn't saying 1 bill people playing the game he is giving the world population and applying it to the potential number of players coming from each region.
You should put Oceania and the whole South East Asia to the JP servers. China, Korea and other asian countries as-well
New Zealand doesn't have 28 million people.
So basically you've just said that there are the same number of servers available to only one eighth the population.
Wouldn't it then just make sense to reallocate servers to NA/EU side, shortening the JP total, but increasing the rest?
In any case, I'm not complaining. I love the game, very excited, and I can understand some bumps in the beginning. I will not accept any form of compensation, if possible. Thanks you, devs, for making this happen! :)
