This idea sounds wonderful! I am sure everyone will like where this could lead when adding more elements to the game. The only thing to weigh out when deciding addition of more content development is if it is worth allocating the server load to make it happen. One fear is the more we cram in now might leave no where to go later for expansions of new content. I personally could live without things such as jump and more detailed grass. I wish we had the specifications of the server capabilities and how the game structure is allocated within those capabilities to see how far we can make our dreams reality in FFXIV-ARR.
Also, I like your change for a "click to show" signature... I might just have to follow suit!
I love visualizing stuff like this -- such as repelling down a steep glacier crevasse to get to a hidden treasure chest... or climbing up vines in a dungeon to escape a boss's ground-based attack. Or maybe an ARC climing up a ladder to shoot from a battlement in a hamlet defense event...
Maybe huge NMs you can climb on! *Cue SoTC music.*
Whether any of this is feasible or not, I'll leave it to people not constantly daydreaming about the game to scrutinize. ;)

I for one hope that the PS3 limits the effffffff out of the PC version just so I can giggle when I see "PS3 limitations!!"
XI was "limited" by PS2 because PC came half a year later, its been over 12 years. Time to let it go :D
I guess I will be the first one to say it though, PS3 is probably going to limit the PC version in some way or another. SE prob wont say where though as far as implementing features. Its kinda bad business to say they could have added something but cannot because they choose to develop for a system to keep the promise they made over 2 years ago, good for them imo!
I like the idea of being able to get to high places to see nice views. I am neutral on climbing though. I didn't care which way about adding jump so I guess I feel the same about climbing.

PC is the primary platform. PS3 limitations will only shoot itself in the foot, it won't weigh down the PC version. They also seem to be more seperate, meaing they can make better graphics on the PC version and other non-gameplay improvements while still remaining compatible to the PS3 version. They're also designing the PS3 client keeping in mind its limitations, such that they don't use too much memory now and not have enough later.Quote:

Well in FFXI we couldnt jump.. in FFXIV we can finally.. maybe in FFXVIII Online we are able to climb then ;D^^
Climbing like you've described was one of the advertised draws for Age of Conan. I liked it! (the climbing aspect, not the MMO itself)
Contrariwise, I felt the climbing in XI's Phomiuna Aqueducts was crappy.
