Have other countries shown interest in global servers?
I think in order for them to even consider this there would need to be a demand from more than just NA.
Otherwise you just have a bunch of english speakin folk on a server somewhere overseas.
nobody want to play with the JP's
NA ONRY!!!!!
Hi Alhanelem,
Thanks. I know you've been adamant about the fact that the new servers aren't "Region Locked" and that is an important thing to make sure people understand.
However, by Square-Enix adding a label as to where each Server is going to be, they are inherently Categorizing / Labeling the Servers.
It will be displayed bright and bold along with each Server Name. So it *will* have an influence on where players are going.
There's also a potential misunderstanding by players who don't read the fine print: You can imagine many players just seeing:
"Server A - Japan"
And just assuming that "Oh, it's probably all Japanese Language," or seeing
"Server G - Europe"
And thinking "that's probably for European players only" etc.
I'm merely asking for them to add a "Global" label to try and encourage / foster an aspect of Final Fantasy XIV (and XI) that already exists now: The Global / International community on servers currently.
This label doesn't affect you (I know you'll be happy to choose whichever Server is closest to you for your Region, you've made that clear), so adding this one word of TEXT shouldn't affect you or anyone only caring about Regional Servers, right? ;)
Thanks!
It will, yes. But you're not FORCED on to your region's servers. If your EU friend wants to play with you really badly, they can join your server. Or, you can create a character on their server.Quote:

Beyond that, we will all still be on our current systems when 2.0 is released, unless people choose on their own to leave them. Thus the current servers will still have a mix of people.
That being said, playing with people in other regions is just a perk. It's not essential to the enjoyment of the game.
your suggesting that people that want to stay together should join a "global" server located in japan?
it seems logical to think that most english speaking players would prefer to have a server located in either europe or NA and that if any compromise is made it would be a choice between those servers. certainly not a server in japan.
which incidentally is what people are going to be able to do.
Im looking forward to compare the differences between the data centers from EU.
because i think what the major lag caused have been the servers and the game client. and not the distance. regional server would have been more important if FF is an egoshooter. but not an MMOrpg
That's what people here don't understand.
Unless both Japan and NA massively ask for it, it won't happen. As for EU, it doesn't matter, because EU players can easily play with NA people on a NA hosted World, latency wouldn't as bad as with a server located in Japan, there wouldn't be any language barrier either (most of EU players speaks EN).
So NA players wanting to play with everyone is one thing but does JP players wants to play with them?
