ARR Gil Cap Reduction

This is starting to remind me of those terrible mitt romney attack ads coming on tv all the time now.

I would like some clarification on this.

At first I thught it was going to cut off any gil past 99,999,999 but the idea of that is so crazy I can't imagine SE doing it. 100mil isn't a lot of money in this game and there will be thousands of pissed off players when including people who have quit and are waiting for V2. The other and more likely thing is that they will divide all gil in the game by 10, which I'm fine with. Relative wealth remains the same yet prices are lower for new players at NPCs.

But if there is no clarification I will definitely take the safety option and buy some extra characters. It's not like I'll have to pay for them in V2 because as a legacy member I get something like 8 free per world anyway. This is another reason it seems unlikely that they would screw over people, it's so easy to move gil around.

With two retainers you can hold up to nearly 300m gil. If you honestly think you need more than that then you might as well buy everything you want before it gets reduced in 2.0

You do realise that we will only have one retainer in V2 right?

No one wants to lose money. I'm glad people like you aren't in charge or you'd be saying to Bill Gates "You don't need more than 100 million, let's take 56 billion of your hard earned fortune!".

They get to donate their gil to me, who has about 80K to my name between a ton of failed double melds and some odds and ends. Consider it donating to charity. :D

He doesnt, and he gives money away all the time because he doesnt need it all himself. He also pays more in taxes because he has more....so what's your point?

That being said, I'm a little :/ about this change. If you cut everyone's gil by a decimal point, AND adjust prices by the same, isn't this really just a lateral/cosmetic move? Is it driven by server storage/stress?

What about items that are less than 10 gil now, like warped arrows. Unless they cost .2 gil in ARR, they just got a ton more expensive. >.>

yeah thats only cosmetic and 4,294,967,295 gil uses the same storage space as 1 gil on a server and thats 32 bits, which is not even a drop in the bucket of storage more like slightly humid air

Better get to putting that gil on alts if you don't want it deleted.
