Not that i'm agreeing with jibe's proposal, but it seems lately we've seen a lot of what I just bolded, and a good deal are FFXI's horrible idea of XP loss/level down. I still have no idea why people seem to think we need to stack more penalties upon death than what the devs have said they plan to do.

There's a very simple solution to the death penalties.

Give a..say..5% sp loss upon death, but do not allow the Sp loss to force a level loss. This will give a reason to live, but not so much that people will ragequit every time they die
