Actually that would be fun if for the last days they just let us pick whatever gear we wanted, put every meld chance at 100% and all sorts of gamebreaking crap.

Imagine picking up a relic from an npc and running around in quintuple melded grade IV gear... lol

I'm actually starting to respect Yoshi-P more and more. I'm glad to see that he realizes that the gameplay shown at gamescom actually resembles any other average mmo but with better graphics. It's nice to see that even he acknowledges it. Which makes me all the more curious what he has in mind to make this game distinguish itself in the mmo market. It's a good thing that the one leading the development is or was an avid mmorpg player.

i agree, i think with a MMO player standpoint he understands the the MMO aspect much more than someone who does consoles, why you think world of warcraft was so popular? their lead developer was the leader of the top guild in everquest.

and from what the rumor goes, yoshi was a top pvp'er in DAOC

Should keep the servers live for those who don't make alpha/beta, could just delay the "save" maintenance till a few weeks before 2.0 is ready to hit live if they do indeed give us a option to vote for bringing up the servers again after nov 1st, then it would be best to just delay the save maintenance till the finalized 2.0

So... is November a typo or did they really push it back 6 weeks, ... because just two weeks ago Yoshi posted that we only had about one month left... better to get it done right i guess.

They probably have their good reasons for going with their current plan. We know already that the transfer takes some time and I'm guessing that they still need to fine-tune things even after the transfer. After all, there isn't really room for errors here. Nobody wants to have their character data becoming corrupted/unusable/altered during the process. Just be patient and let them do their stuff. There's no need to point a gun behind their back and limit their time to work on the data transfer.

They should keep them up in case people feel nostalgic and urgently need to save all their old cutscenes or something.

Everything Yoshida says makes sense and I applaud him for being detailed on his reasons for not showing the game play to a wider audience. I believed from the very beginning he would give me something I can't get in other MMO's, and it sounds like he is going to be able to deliver on that promise. Keep up the good work, I will be cheering you on all the way.

I would still like an answer after the character data transfer process (Which I assume will be by end of November/early December.), will our character data in the technically "beta phase" will be preserved for the 2.0 release in January? Can either say "yes", "no", or "we haven't decided yet".

Also to people disappointed by not being in the phase one of alpha. Honestly, you are better off. It is mostly stress tests and the game will most likely be hard to enjoy in the first phase.
