You learn quickly that on any public forum (literal and figurative) that you should put forth information not for the vocal minority, but the silent majority who read, who visit and who try to learn. Trying to change people's mind on any public setting is difficult for a wide variety of reasons. The fact that it appears the wide majority of forum posters and those of the vocal minority suffer quite heavily from the Dunning-Kruger and Backfire effect simultaneously is one of the main deterrents of open, intellectual conversation.
As you may say, "ur doin it rong" if you try to change the mind of any person suffering from those cognitive pitfalls that every person can fall into regardless of socioeconomic/geographical position. Instead more people should post for those who read but don't get involved, that's the majority of the people who will see these posts. They're the ones who are most helped.
I wholeheartedly agree, and that is a major driving force behind what I post. It is disheartening however when those in the wrong attack new threads liker rabid dogs, spewing false informaiton. In my experience, OPs look for their answer in the first page of posts and do not often revisit their threads for further clarification. To that end the damage is already done and my back-and-forth banter with others go unseen by the very person seeking help initially. Still, it doesn't stop me from posting or righting the wrongs here. No one can do it on their own though and others do need to step up and start doing their part for the greater good too.
Thank you for the response.
I'm just posting to say thanks for actually contributing something instead of having a childish pissing match. More importantly something with actual data backing it. I typically don't post in the PLD section of the forums since I really don't know much about the class, so I'm one of the "silent majority" you mentioned. Been trying to learn more about gearing effectively, stats, etc, and you've been very helpful.
Just browsing through casually, reading some arguements when i came across this.
Just fyi about the heavy darklight set. The body alone has 30+ defense over any standard high tiered body and helmet combination, 20 vit on it, about 80 hp combined for head and body, 45 emnity, regen +5 and shitty m.eva stat. Now, I'm not a huge fan of that body piece myself (due to my mind loss) but it sure mitigates a hell of alot more damage than your body piece and helmet combination would, meaning for that certain discussion, that body piece is the works.

------------------------------------------
Total Def: 611
Total Vit: 44
-----------------------------------------
+ 39 Def for the shield = 650
+ 34 vit for the sword = 78 vit
With my Current gear, Def is 763 and vit is 375. 814 Def 381 vit with full party and food.
Conclusion; DLH is overrated for PLD set up. Thats not to say its worthless, But is easly outdone by crafted gear, with the darklight heavy gear, I would recomend a WAR tank, or a PLD built to do dps.
Also note, with just head and chest peice, where the vit dose suprass that of what i can acumulate on cobalt gear, my def for the two peices combined are 11 def higher then that of DLH, dlh has roughly 13 more vit, i think the trade off speaks for itself.
