Why is FFXIV Mobile getting better cosmetics than PC?

The expansion WE PAY FOR. The mobile game is FREE TO PLAY. They have NEW gear, NEW features, DYEABLE mounts, the UI is animated, the open world has custom elements etc.

Like idk how you don't get this. It's such a weird thing to argue. BOTH of them have the goal of generating revenue. I would expect more creative effort go into the MAIN game.

And I agree with your last point. Usually comparing a mobile game to a desktop one seems silly, yet, for some reason, here we are in disbelief. If you like the slop from the hand that feeds, just say that. You have every right.

exactly!!! and feedback from long time players like us should definitely matter. it should matter from all players, but when you consider that it's over a decade it is quite ridiculous.

and to note, i want long pretty hair and i just got my necromancer title. i am very excited for pilgrim's traverse! i LOVE deep dungeons and eureka and all sorts of challenge.

but i also want to be cute and i really love glamour! i don't understand why this is divisive whatsoever. lol.

As someone who enjoys both hard content (albeit I might be not the master of it) and role-playing I honestly genuinely don't understand why the two concepts seem to be incompatible in some people minds. The running "true end-game is glamour" joke was born precisely because there's a sizeable intersection between the two parts of the community.

i think it is hard to grasp for someone who may need to try out another flavor of the 21+ different haircuts in the game.

jokes aside, yeah i dunno. i feel like most people generally really care about their character in an MMO and to an extent treat it like an extension of themselves. its about immersion. most people want to look good! *ahem*.

Developer here, so I do actually understand how much of a work it is when deadlines and costs expectations are at play. That's a big part of the reason why I tend to be very forgiving towards a lot of things that don't go well, because I know some of that is outside of devteam's direct control.

That however, does not mean that people can't be frustrated or ask for things. They don't have to drop everything and work on these concerns right this instant, but adding to a backlog as something community asks for won't do harm. I've been fine with waiting for hats for 6 years, I'm fine with waiting for face paints to be updated, and I'm fine with waiting for more proper long haircuts to be added, after I voiced my interested in those being done.


On the other side, while some understand that these are different games, there also will be players who actually don't get that. They see the game that runs off FF14's IP and will assume that the two are the same, and will be obviously upset when they find out that the Mobile game is getting things that the main title cannot, for objective or not so much reasons. And even those who do understand will still often end up subconciously comparing the two, because the other game is also marketed as FF14.

There's no point in being upset comparing Mobile and PC versions at this point, ones a studio that's putting full resources into the game and the others Square Enix where they have trouble enough just putting new content in the game.

I dont want to offend the management, but they got few good ideas + QOL additions and sadly often bad ones. I'd count Mahjong (features) and Fellowship system into that.
They really need to rethink how to spend resources.

I watched the trailer, and it looks way better than the pc version. Also why is it free to play but pc version has a monthly subscription?

I agree some of the things like the fashion items just do nothing for me but I can say that and another person might love them its a tough one.

My Daughter is a lead artist in a games company and she sometimes pops on XIV and she says oh I wish you could choose horn type or you had more faces and sliders and she also knows how much goes into making them as she does it for a living. I know we cannot compare them but I feel they just need to look at some of the requests and see if there is any kind of way to add a face and also maybe a slider and a few longer hairstyles they would make so many players happy.

They have all different departments I am sure so the ones who work on battle content will not be working on character design. It is a big issue for lots of players I feel and I do not want to use mods its as if they are like oh don't use them but please do as it saves us the time and effort. I know it is expensive to run a MMO but lets be honest they must have made a fair bit as I alone according to my Husband and few in game friends funded Storm blood with the fantasia addiction I used to have :D

Tbf knowing the likes of companies like Tencent and NetEase, they're bound to find a way to monetize in a fashion where we'd be glad that we're paying subscription.
