the Mech Ops is disappointing

Crafter side is okish, my 9X crafter having more issue than my 90 crafter, it seem to be issue with sync

Gatherer is very poorly implement, again, the sync seem to be the issue, time are very tight for all my 9X gathering wearing 90 equipments, and pretty much down time between leve and Hi-Cordial just couldnt keep up

Fisher is suffering worse with RNG making thing very frustrating

I would be happy if they could sort out the very tight timer on gathering job and the issue with level sycn

after seeing Masekase's response i guess i'm too low 5241 craft w/4881 control and 629 cp with my 720 tool equipped. most of the time it's doable but other times i end up placing silver or bronze because i ran out of cp. i was using food with medicine but sometimes that wasn't even enough to get gold.

My biggest issue is Mech Ops. Being ground support needs to give you a little more than some credits and a buff for even more credits. I think the overall relic grind would be much more enjoyable if the Mech Ops gave you like, even 10 relic research points to all your (unlocked) levels of your current job, and even that is not much. If you're actually deep into your relic grind, it genuinely becomes less appealing to do the mech ops if you don't get to pilot, because the rewards are so minimal and don't help your grind since the credits don't help you with relics. Even if you are farming credits, it's probably better to just do the "leves" and get the buff once in a while.

Well...

Teleporting to Mare will burn through tickets fast. Sucks if you don't have any.

Saw a lot of people leveling jobs. Since the missions scale and the tools have lower stats, I guess they get more mileage out of them.

The A-2 missions are a big jump in difficulty. The gather+craft ones especially are listed as i690 but, oops, they're 2* master recipes so even the scrip gear won't feasibly give HQ.

Red Alert takeaway is FSH was the quickest and easiest despite giving the most credits. You know, when it's available. Could be a fluke too.

Only two mech missions is weird when that was a big selling point so it gets old fast. Apparently there's an issue where they randomly stop spawning until the next Red Alert appears. They normally spawn every 20 minutes or so and that lasted 2 hours. Also agreed with the buff being weak and you'll have a hard time burning through all 20 uses before the next event. Also also, if you switch jobs after sending a pilot ticket, you better remember what you were because you have to switch back.

Oh, and many of the missions are in spots where...running to them is faster than taking the rails and having to detour around a giant crevice.

I hate it. It is pure garbage. You can't teleport directly there, you can't mount up, you can't just get the things you want, you have to literally gamble for them, and the crafting/gathering is somehow worse than regular crafting/gathering. Super Yikes. As soon as I get my cosmetics, I'm out forever. Diadem fails yet again, thanks SE

A couple friends asked me to come back early to help them with some blue content and work died down so I did and figured that though I planned on only coming back to try the new exploratory zone, I might as well give the cosmic exploration a try.

Honestly, even though its mostly a dead planet I think the idea is cool to get crafters and gatherers caught up, but man (big disclaimer) is it boring to a player like me who mostly only play MMO's for the battle content and stories. It's just crafting and gathering and the only variance is when you do critical engagements where you have to stop what you're doing, sprint across the map, and spam a single button unless you get the mech but even that is basic. I do admit that FFXIV has at least in my opinion one of the better (if not best) crafting and gathering systems, but I guess doing it all on the moon in the same area kinda kills the open world part (one of the only in the game ironically) that makes it more fun. That said, I actually was reminded how I kind of liked leves. Bring them back for battle content for option leveling in the open world...........please...........but no escorts unless they are improved drastically lol

ALL THAT SAID, I have people in my FC who love crafting and gathering and they seem to be having a good time so F me, my opinion is probably only geared towards more people like me.

I’ve been playing a lot of cosmic since it came out and I now have 9 relics out of 11 (the 8 crafters and BTN)

In that time I’ve come to realise that cosmic is incredibly well designed content…….within a very narrow niche. As someone who likes crafting for the sake of it the crafting side of cosmic basically breaks all the norms expected from crafting, massive progress required with tiny durabilities, huge quality with no progress needed, using the special action to actually turn a normal craft into an expert craft. Basically every way you can bend the current crafting formula is present here (the only thing really lacking is brutally difficult experts that basically NEED a specialist to be done but honestly specialists are basically vestigial content since they redid the crafters in ShB and they should just figure out how to distribute the specialist system in a different way). However none of this means anything if you don’t like crafting in the first place. If you hate crafting then cosmic amounts to 10,000 macros for 8 ugly stage 1 tools then logging off

Gatherers are similar, the gatherers A ranks have some RNG involved but they are basically a hard GP wall + correct use of potions to properly gold and like the crafters they are basically built around bending the gathering formula as far it can possibly bend in this game. Collectibles encourage meticulous woodsman use not just the same boring scour+scrutiny. Fates require you know where the three groupings of nodes are and start at one before the timer starts etc. again it’s all very well designed (I can knock a few points for GP not restoring between missions but you can sub that out by just doing a crafter)……..for people who already like gatherers. If you don’t then it’s just some brutally hard leves you probably don’t understand what you are doing wrong for 3 ugly first stage relics

Then the actual building aspect. The moon alone has 15 stages and we are only on 3. And everything contributes, even spinning kupo of fortune.

I’m genuinely impressed that the devs did something so rich with the crafters and gatherers……….but as I said if you don’t already like them there is nothing here for you but frustration as the A ranks have hard walls on them for expected competency. A ranks are not where you learn these skills which is frustrating.

I don’t give out praise to the devs often (as most people probably know) but I genuinely think cosmic is a joy for those of us who already liked the crafters and gatherers but I do hope it’s made less frustrating for people casually flitting in trying to figure out what’s going on and how they can contribute

I don't find crafting or gathering to be very entertaining. I spent very little time in the Ishgard Restoration- basically just enough to level all the DoH jobs from 15 to 50, which thankfully was very quick. I'll use Cosmic Exploration likewise to level my remaining crafters from 90 to 100, and I'll farm all of the rewards for myself, and I expect both of those goals to take me a couple weeks. After that, I'm gone until they add the next planet and more rewards.

It's not about liking. Like everything else it always comes down to how you play. Are you casual about it or are you hardcore.

Me, I'm a casual crafter and gatherer. I enjoy leveling them. I enjoy using my crafter to make money. I enjoy using my gatherers to get mats for my crafter. I've never in my life done an expert craft. But I have the newest crafting and gathering gear. That's how I enjoy crafting and gathering.

Apparently, Cosmic Exploration is not designed for people like me. So far, I've only been working on my Botanist. I don't have a ton of time to devote to this. At first I was like "wow this is fun!" Then I got to the A rank missions. Not ALL of them are terrible. There are some I can get gold on. But there are a lot more I can't even get silver on or can't even complete at all. Right now if I get bronze I earn around 5 or 6 points toward Cosmic Research. I'm progressing at a snail's pace. No, I'm not pentamelded. I'm not at max efficiency. I have trouble remembering how collectibles work when I haven't done one for a while. I'm just a casual crafter/gatherer. I just wanted to participate and have fun and not be frustrated all the time or have to spend 5 years to get a relic.

As a casual player of FFXIV, I'm beyond disappointed.

Tradeskills are my favorite thing to do in the game. I enjoy the variety in missions with durability and quality getting mixed up. I haven't done gathering too much so can't comment there.

I am a bit bummed there isn't more of a story. So it's just grinding crafts so far in a zone where I can't queue up for anything to break up the monotony. For once, I'm really not enjoying crafting in the game even though I like the general structure of CE. Small progress cutscenes or conversations where you interact with the loporrits would help.
