The Furry Crowd having a whole inital Expansion MSQ Time for an Au'ra Centered Expansion in 8.0
I don't really need EW tier Au Ra characters. They were all dudes, where's the cute girls?
I think there are no Au'ras because that soul device doesn't work with their horn model, so they decided not to use them. Roe were ignored as they always are.
A little bit of a rant but it’s a super pet peeve of mine.
While on the topic of Au Ra, “Au Ra” has no apostrophe. It’s not “Au’ra”. “Au Ra” is also both the singular AND plural for the race. “Auri” is the adjectival form and you only use that when describing things like “an auri samurai”.
No idea where people got the apostrophe or misuse of “auri” from since “au’ra” never shows up anywhere at all in-game and you can see the correct version in character creator or when the race is mentioned by NPCs and while “auri” doesn’t show up in-game much if at all, the singular “Au Ra” again shows up in character creator and the rare few times a character references a singular NPC or the player’s race.
Something something one dude mispelled it on forums when the race got announced and it got stuck with most people.
I find it a bit weird that for the steppe the argument is "Look at all these Au Ra customs!" when the zone is only about *Xaela* customs and not Au Ra in general, but for other cases we go "Ok but the duskwight clan didn't got represented!" because by the same coin of argument, i could argue we don't need more elezen lore cuz we got 3 elezen scions, so elezens are properly represented, ignoring the fact that there's a whole other clan which isn't represented.
I still believe that the Steppe kinda limited the Xaela clan because it meant that they're forever gonna be left behind in said place, and with more expansions coming, the fact that we're far past the stormblood days are gonna be more felt. Which is why i suggest there should be *MSQ* characters that represent an specific race instead. Like i mentioned before, i though Yugiri served that purpose well, but she got written out of the story hard.
If i were talking ONLY about representation in the world, counting all the generic NPC and minor quest givers, i wouldn't have an issue with how things are rn, this is mainly MSQ talk only, which is why i feel people are making an argument that i am not making.
The Azim Steppe is the Raen and Xaela shared homeland. Xaela culture is the original Raen culture.
Raen outside of the Steppe (basically all of them except those who joined that one tribe) do not have their own culture and instead seem to adopt the culture of whoever they live with instead. For example, the leader of the Raen Au Ra who landed on Thavnair was a khan, but any sort of Mongolian roots seem to no longer exist and their own gods were mixed with the Hyur and Matanga's. In the far-east, the Au Ra are described to have adapted to the local Hyur language and culture. It seems to have even reached the Raen isolated in Sui-No-Sato via the Kojin. Raen are described as adapting to new cultures and coexisting peacefully with other races, but that seems to have come at a cost of a culture of their own which seems to have originally been similar to that of the Xaela anyway.
I know this, but i think it's silly to say "Au Ra as a whole got represented there" because of the lore in it, one entire clan being absent in said place. It's like saying Dusk Elezen got properly represented because Gridania has Dusk Elezen lore in that place, despite only being like 2 of them in that place, and all of them misstreated. Yeah, the lore implies they exist in said place, but does that even mean anything?
There were also Raen in Sui-no-Sato, but their culture essentially boiled down to "leave us alone".
