Even ignoring the content, DT's MSQ is roughly 30 hours long without skipping. If the story is not even at its starting point after that long, the pacing is objectively and inexcusably terrible.

So far, I feel like they threw away the New World and both continents of the New World and potentially a shard. I hate being on this half of the star and honestly can't wait to go back to Eorzea.
I particularly enjoyed some of the unexpected twists. The only people that need a clear plan or path are the devs and they don't need to share it with you. Posts like this won't even get this shared with you.
By the way, there is this site named "DeepL" that is pretty good. Not saying it to be mean, but it is a good site.
I was actually expecting Zarool Ja to be an ongoing antagonist that would lead into a sort of civil war between the south and northern halves of Tural, even after his death, there would still be a civil war as he would get turned into a martyr, that this matter wouldn't be resolved until at least 7.55. That with the northern half, it would be similar to more Heavensward of how people who live there are cold and distrustful of outsiders and they only slowly warm up to us.
Instead 7.0 was what it was.
I can at least see what they have planned with the scifi goblet, though it makes me wonder how quickly they are going to have us visit other worlds and also if they are going to feel more "dime a dozen" than the experience with shadowbringers.
Dawntrail probably opened more possibilities than previous expansions though. I mean, could you really have guessed after defeating Thordan that the next steps of the journey will involve liberating Ala Mhigo and Doma and going to the First? Those threads opened up in 3.X.
After defeating Shinryu nothing was pointing towards our visit on the First at all. I remember a lot of people thought we would deal with Garlemald next.
And now DT is quite clearly hinting at using that key and exploring the rest of Tural with Erenville. At least that.
The hourglass is more concerning for me than anything. It let someone escape the Calamity of Water(sixth) to the shard that got rejoined in the Calamity of Lightning(second), so either the new writers and the people above them didn't bother to check pretty fundamental stuff about the setting or it's the ultimate get out of jail free card and we'll just be hopping from shard to shard and time period to time period.
Just quickly.
They escaped the calamity of ice (fifth) not the calamity of water if I remember correctly.
To be honest it could make for an interesting plot devise for antagonists like someone using it to rejoin themself, unmake stuff in the past or other things.
It's probably the best thing of the expansion for me and it's story intrigues me.
