Both pre-DT and DT have lighting issues, yet that's not what's being discussed here.
The face models have changed. That's the problem. That's the whole point
This thread is "well it works for me *downvotes bug report*" personified.
Overall, I prefer the new face models over the old ones. However, I do agree that the quality varies significantly among them. For example, Viera face 2 was ruined for me, I really dislike it now. On the other hand, Viera face 1 is excellent, to the point that it feels like the developers focused solely on perfecting that one. I suspect this inconsistency applies to other races and face models as well, with some receiving premium treatment while others seem like an afterthought. This inconsistency shouldn't be the case.
That's actually what's being discussed here, whether you understand it or not. The lack of subsurface scattering in the old shaders resulted in a much higher lighting contrast that drastically changed the way we perceived the shapes of the faces.
Working with video game artists made me understand that every aspect of the visual perception of a game is entangled together. You can't point at a problem with models in isolation from the lighting, the weather, the tone mapping, and the shading.
You are the one who lacks an understanding, or perhaps you're just gaslighting, or trying to look smart
The 3d models have already been ripped and overlaid on top of eachother. The differences which are noticed in the live game in any angle of lighting are also 1:1 to a completely unshaded mesh
The "overall perception" is not what morphed my characters face and expressions into something different.
The face shape is different, the lips are different, it's all different
first you beg then when you don't get what you want you start demanding like you own the comanty sorry you don't so stop acting like you do.
Again, the old meshes with the current lighting/shaders/environment would not look as before. They were designed for the old shading/lighting/environments. That's why they had to change them. That and the improved rigging. Sorry that you don't like the way your character looks anymore but most people are happy. Deal with it.
So it is about the changing the face meshes now? The exact problem I pointed out which you said it wasn't?
If they had to modify them to "look faithful to the original design" in the new lighting engine, they didn't achieve their goal
Again, the face models have changed. That's the problem. That's the whole point. I'm sorry that you don't understand this
Yeah, I have been. One at a time.
