Dawntrail was great. More like this, please!

I am still working through the last zone, which has started off slow and made it difficult to get back into since I only get a bit to play after work, but otherwise I have mostly enjoyed the story of DT. I liked the premise behind the first half and liked seeing Wuk grow while still maintaining her quirks. I wish that the second half focused on Erenville and Krille more than it has thus far as I think SE went too hard into the focusing on Wuk again when she could have taken a more backseat role as it just seemed to go through everything she learned in the first half again which felt like a waste of time and narrative development for other characters. I think the story was better paced than EW, though there was a lot of fluff that could have been removed to clean up the story. The gameplay was about what I expected from SE at this point. They default to a cutscene instead of incorporating combat or gameplay into the story. The few times there was a solo duty were really good. I am really not a fan of taking over other characters but the one major time it was done felt good and afterwards like the right thing to do for that part of the story. So far for me it was better than EW (which I wasn't the biggest fan of) but I will see where I land after I finish the last zone and what kind of ending SE gives me.

I think this is a bit disingenuous as the entire setup for the expansion was "hey come by on my team". This was known going in. It was a major point of the MSQ for 6.55, and expecting that your WoL would instead traipse around doing their own thing feels like going in with the wrong expectation. We also weren't "constantly pushed into the limelight" - much of what we did was more low-key side errands or helping Wuk Lamat in a mentorship role and only bringing strength to bear together. The only solo duty that the WoL had in the entire first half of the expansion was to fight Gulool Ja Ja on his own request. The only time the WoL's reputation was brought to bear was when it was relevant as part of a dungeon or trial.

The WoL was in no way the star of the show for the first half, and in the second half they only showed up to provide martial support.

no, i'm well aware, i just am continually disappointed at people that never learned to not share their unasked for opinion, especially when their opinion contributes nothing and is a simple 'you're wrong actually'

Seems to me that's also what they're doing... any thread is open to discussion. You can actually find quite a few posts defending DT in the threads where people are openly criticizing it.
That is, after all, what discussion means. Turns out, irl people don't all agree with you unconditionally after you lay down your thoughts like they do ingame with Wuk Lamat :)

I mean even on r/ffxiv, which is know to be excessively positive, and where, one year and a half ago, you got downvoted to oblivion for daring say anything negative about the game, the MSQ main thread are mostly negative comments. It's probably the first time r/ffxiv and the forum are aligned. Saying the reception is mixed is an euphemism (at least on the story side).

Exactly. And other people shared their thoughts in this thread. What you need to understand is that a thread is not your space. It is not something you own. A post, whether it’s one that starts a thread or a reply to a other, is a prompt for other people to reply to. So you saying no one asked for your opinion is completely nonsensical in the context of a forum. If you don’t want to see other people’s opinions, you should make your post and leave or not visit the forum at all.
