i was really not expecting a response to what i believed would have been firmly established as sarcasm, but thank you
Just want to point out to the OP that YouTube content creators have exactly the same rights and privileges as forum posters because, well, forum posters are content creators.
There is little to no journalistic integrity in either YouTube or forum posters. It is not a requirement for the equivalent of the Opinion Page of the newspaper.
Oh, I totally forgot that Mr. Happy is the ultimate authority on what the community cares about. I mean, he's called an influencer for a reason, right? He gets to decide what we think and feel. Apparently, our thoughts only count if some superior creator approves of it first. /s
Content creators were always just a step stool to get information to Yoshi-P.
um.... they are content creators. Not journalists, they have zero reason to be unbiased about anything, EVERYTHING they post is their own opinion. They are not working for CNN, or NBC or The New York times where there is a slight and i mean VERY SLIGHT expectation of unbiased reporting on an issue
Many people are stating that these content creators are both not obliged to any form of factual and responsible coverage and also that do not speak for the community as a whole. I agree with this very much.
But, unfortunately, the reality of it is that they get a disproportionate amount of attention from SE. These are the people that go to the media tour and lay the first eyes on the changes, and are allowed to offer feedback while the iron is still hot.
They're also, likely as a consequence of this, sometimes used as a barometer to gauge the community's response and acceptance of changes.
The tragedy here is that while they have no duty to be accurate and do not speak for us all, their voices are likely the most important of all to SE.
And, at least to me, it's very frustrating when they just don't know what they're talking about, don't care about it, say utter nonsense or all three combined.
(I did watch Xeno's reaction following the advice of some, my opinion of him as increased- he had some silly takes, but the overall sentiment I had was positive)
Did it occur to you that they use the content creator feedback because they are based on the number of followers they have, a voice for their followers? Just because you don't agree with a content creator doesn't mean their followers don't. It makes sense for SE to go them because these creators ARE players of the game, have large numbers of followers, who generally share the same view and it gives SE a slice of what the player base thinks. Its no different than any kind of market research that goes and pulls in opinions. Content creators are not journalists, they are players of the game that have a large following.
