Point in case: It's not worthless, that's all I wanted to show.
Carry on.
Why do you think I removed that part????

Then the focus of your post should have been on the things you might be interested in spending gil on, not clickbait like "gil is worthless."
I have no desire to spend currency for the sake of spending currency. However, if someone's interested in a new or modified game mechanic, and it happens to be that I can spend some currency as a part of the mechanic, that's a separate conversation. Maybe even an interesting one.
For example, Eureka and Bozja have gear that grants bonuses in their respective instances. You can grind them out entirely within the instances, or… you can short-circuit the process a bit by turning to the marketboard and buying various bits and bobs.
I love gil. I love making it. I love spending it. But 90% of what I do in-game is craft, craft, craft. And gather. To me it's really relaxing. That's the value it has for me -- not the currency itself.
I'm quite happy that Gil's mostly just a 'score' thing.
That said, a nice 3% monthly wealth tax would spice things up imo.
I never had a gil issue, but sometimes it's nice to be able to get glamour when it's new content.
I know a few people that have never had 1m gil.
Just because there isn't stuff you want to spend gil on doesn't mean there isn't stuff to spend it on.
Gil has value just not to you. Just because you are hoarding gil doesnt mean everyone is. People buy collectables for themself and others.
All that making it harder would do is get people to buy gil. I would rather people have big gil numbers than have people support rmting more than they already do
"This in-game currency is worthless, I do absolutely nothing with it."
"Then give it away to someone."
"Don't be stupid, do you know how much it is worth?!"
