Restart steam if you do not see it. It took 2 hours for mine to appear.
You have to go to your steam library -> right-click on ffxiv -> manage -> CD keys (look for the one that says pre-order dawntrail) copy it & go to mogstation website and paste code under the redeem code part

Here we go - the dictionary definition of "instantly" - without the least delay : IMMEDIATELY 2: with importunity : URGENTLY

In logistics or service delivery solutions, "Instant delivery" or "instant cart delivery" is often defined as the delivery of products or items to consumers within shorter time frames, such as 30 minutes or less.

So no 'next week" is not commonly thought of instant. What you are describing is a service delivery issue. The service provider is not able to deliver upon the expected level of service at present. It's NOT the same as your event example because of the advertised level of service in the case for the pre-order. It's on whomever delivers the server to expect a higher volume of orders during this period and adjust OR to not make promises that can't be met during this period. Otherwise it is false advertising, even if it is unintentional.

I think it's a fair statement, even if not a legal one. This happens with EVERY expansion pre-order launch. They know full well their website can't take it, and they refuse to invest in a working storefront. They know it's going to be full of crashes and errors for a day or more.

Even if they're too cheap to implement a queue system, they could split up opening pre-orders for the physical and digital version to split up the surge on their website.

At the very minimum, maybe state before pre-orders even open that the store is likely to be hammered and that there will likely be delays instead of promising "instant delivery!"

I never said a week was instant. I said IF YOU ORDER NEXT WEEK, IT WILL BE INSTANT. Because there will be no que for thousands of people trying to get it on day one when they have 90 days to get it. The reason it is not instant right now is because of you (plural). Because you are all impatient and have to get it the first day it is available even though it will be available for a full 90 days+
Calling it 'false advertising' is not a fair statement. Regardless of if it happens every time. Because for 85 of the 90 days it's available, it will be true. And if people didn't just rush to try and get it all at once for whatever reason... it would have been true for today too.
What sad lives do you have to lead that you have to rush to get it day one it's available, and be this uptight about it taking a while? Especially if you weren't looking to get the physical edition.

I bought the digital CE on Steam around 1am eastern time after I was done raiding for the night and the pre-order key was listed in my CD keys area immediately. So at least for Steam they seem to have things worked out.

When I saw the words "Instant delivery" with the two items on Lodestone,
I actually understood "Instant delivery" as "You will get the items immediately from the Post Moogle after entering the Pre-Order Bonus Code for Early Access"
and not "You will get your Pre-Order Bonus code immediately after your order"

Feels like some of you are just debating semantics. Codes will come but shit is congested asf

It's almost like some of you people with join dates prior to 2020 have never pre-ordered any game at all, with a massive following... Don't forget to make a forum post about the log-in queues on launch, too.

Did some googling since people are leaning towards the false advertising/illegal route.

In business, there is something known as the 30-Day Rule when it comes to online selling. By law, you must have a reasonable basis for stating that a product can be shipped within a certain time. If your advertising doesn't clearly and prominently state the shipment period, you must have a reasonable basis for believing that you can ship within 30 days.

If you can't ship within the promised time (or within 30 days if you made no promise), you must notify the customer of the delay, provide a revised shipment date and explain his right to cancel and get a full and prompt refund.

I don't believe that saying "instantly" is giving an exact definition of time in the way this law works or making a "promise", therefore putting Square into the 30 days. They've also wrote on multiple platforms that they're looking into Steam issues which would also cover them along with providing a way for people to contact them after 48 hours.

This is the same game where it took people 1-2 days to get Fantasia when Endwalker launched. Like others have said, this isn't anything new. I think people being upset that they didn't get it that second is frustrating but from what I can see, Square actually has 30 days to supply the items before we can legally start going after them (according to the FTC).

Side note: For false advertising you'd have to prove that Square intentionally lied to people to promote sales, not just that the wording on the ad is wrong since that can be considered accidental if there's no malicious intent.
