Stalking and Harassment, GM/Square Enix Refusal to act

In the context of a video game people have been convicted? I have spent the weekend trying to find one case that supports this claim. Ones that appear to get convicted appear to bleed into outside the internet.

That does not appear to be the case here.

What is being targeted is a video game character, nothing suggestions the person is targeting the person themselves. I do not think video game characters are considered an extension of a person, thus things like libel, doxing, blackmail, etc . . . Are considered viable threats.

I personally just fail what protections people are expecting to get from the police in this case if all that being exposed is images of their video game character.

Sure of they were a minor the lewd images could be an issue, but to say this meets the level of cyberstalking when the focus seems to be on the video game character seems wholly disingenuous.

So recently with Bungie, there a case that does exist for cyber bullying and doxing, due to the Admins of Destiny being actively attacked and Doxed, one even had a pizza sent to their house off work hours by a player who was mad about changes. Cyber bullying is becoming more a recognized threat for a lot of states and laws are slowly, very slowly, being made to account for it now a days. In a lot these cases if the company isn;t doing anything you can seek help for it. You may also be get SE to consider changing there stance on being active about these situations as well if they get henious enough.

Their irl information got released the target was a real person. The target here appears to be the character. Unless they have target them as a person beyond the scope of their characters.

Yes one could argue a person is behind the character, but I don't think legally a character is offered the same protections and rights as the person in control of said character.

Well the main thing is these laws wanna account for that, people behind the characters or accounts, etc, being able to defend themselves.

You can't honestly believe the stalker is targeting the character and not the person controlling the character. Do you honestly believe the stalker would simply stop if the character was deleted and Op made a new one?

For these instances, I would be going to Discord and F-List with a case of impersonation. idk how FL handles it but I know Discord does take it seriously, especially since it's advertising, essentially, technically revenge porn to harass you.

While I know SE usually doesn't use links outside of the game in their reports, have you dropped them in your reports? Mention the real life crime of revenge porn in your reports too. I would also be going above the GMs heads and going to customer support and request for escalation since the GMs aren't doing crap to help you.

I hope this gross person gets the boot and you get some peace :(

Currently I do not think any country, or state extends those rights to the online character or persona. I very well could be wrong in this regard when it comes to cyberstalking.
