Thought this was common knowledge. I don't watch either, but it was a big deal at the time. There you are though. There were also issues later on that persisted. Some of the crowd that he brings with him isn't too pleasant either granted.

I feel like a lot of people are missing the elephant in the room if Asmongold returns to FFXIV. For a moment, let's disregard how he personally feels about the game and how long he might play for and shift the focus on what his return to the game might do for the rest of us. This is the second time now he would be picking up FFXIV just right before an expansion (Just in time for him to be able to attend the media tour well played on that), which is also when the game is in a bit of decline. The game will become drastically populated again as his followers come to the game like they did the first time in masses. Login queues, congested server spaces, 'WoW Refugee Wave 2' for lack of a better way of expressing it. I'm less concerned about his opinions of the game (But even that actually carries a lot of weight for the devs and shouldn't be dismissed), and more concerned about what his actions will bring back to the game. Like how the devs invested all this time and money into more server spaces because of the audience he brought only for it to go largely unused since he quit.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about. Server and zone congestion is certainly an issue, but not unique to him or "his" crowd, and the people swarming him with mounts and skills were already XIV players and were seemingly swiftly dealt with?

In any case, it's a bait thread and he's apparently not playing again for the foreseeable future so it's all moot anyway. :) If he does ever decide to play again I hope people can be chill and let him enjoy it.
