I can't find the fun in this game any more

Legit suggestion for someone playing since 2010. and ARR in 2013.

if you bored of the game (& if you don't own a house), just unsub for a few months and wait for more contents before coming back again.

I do this for expansion(s) that I don't like. (Stormblood & Endwalker being the 2 of them).

P.S. I couldn't unsub EW because I own a house since ShB. So I (& wife) login once a month into the house to avoid demolition. We still play other games actively.

War and BLM have been around since the beginning of FF. They are classic jobs that deserve to be in the game's main line job choices. Just as Mystic Knight and Geomancer do. Viper does not and Pictomancer could be argued it does and I'm not against its addition, but to see it before the others and especially as a real job when BLU is limited is really dumb. I'm also not against FF14 adding more original jobs; they should just do it after exhausting more classic jobs first, particularly ones that actually deserve to be added in XIV, such as Mystic Knight and Geomancer.

Honestly, the mistake you're making isn't that you're criticizing, or that you disagree with the direction of the game, those are pretty rational actions depending on what you're looking for in an experience, especially if those features are no longer being provided.

The issue is that if you're looking for a reason to be excited, you've already lost. For someone like you, the best thing would be to be as stoic and neutral as possible. As someone who absolutely despises almost everything about Endwalker from story to gameplay to content design, I am well aware that the odds of things changing from one expansion to the next are marginal at best with this current trajectory, there's no reason to. So expect the worst, and hope for nothing. That way, if things do change, AWESOME. If they don't, you aren't surprised. Minimal to zero investment is key, and you have the bonus points of it being the healthiest option in the grand scheme of things.

Regardless, no matter how much you want it, we are never going back home. That's just the way it is, and at best, we're getting Shadowbringers 3, with the same lack of shake ups to the core gameplay experience, if that's something you care about. I even broke my own rules by saying, "Oh, Solution Nine looks interesting, surely there will be interesting new characters and a great culture to expand on." before I remembered I might be disappointed if I even humor that idea. So I threw it away.

Like, if the expansion is as mid as this one is for me, I'll just go back to playing Monster Hunter, a series that actually cares about the gameplay experience of it's fans, it's not like my friends are coming back and that I'm chained down or anything. It's not that big of a deal.

Already elaborated in several threads on it.

All I'll say is that it is impossible in real life to learn from something if you can't live through it. If I got shot by a firearm and am now dead, I am not going to learn how to dodge a bullet. If every other mechanic is going to check if someone is dead and if they are, the raid dies, no one is going to learn much of anything.

Likewise, all the power the healers have is simply there to cater to the mitigation matters mentality. The pattern is "big aoe attack or big tank buster", healer uses one to three skills to heal the group back to full, then hit the boss with their flavorful version of a wet sponge. It would literally be the same thing if healers had better damage rotations and just a couple of recovery spells. Heck, it would be a better world if having to rez people cuts out dps alongside the rez debuff, thus people get to at least see more of the fight and just wipe because of not making the dps check.

Yea, that's my curtain call. That live letter didn't show me a single thing I was interested in and actively made me angry with Beastmaster being a limited job. Endwalker killed my love of the game and Dawntrail buried it.

Nine years is the longest I've ever played an MMO though so while I'm sad my time here has come to an end, it gave me a lot of good memories.

As long as they don't change Black Mage or Monk, because those Jobs are the only two I'm having real fun with right now.

I admire yet pity that you somehow thought they'd do a 180 on this fanfest otherwise, considering that everything that was shown was very much expected. You should've jumped off the boat years ago if this the case, because really what were you expecting from this game at this point.

Im not saying this in spite, Im just questioning your logic with how you came to be disappointed and how somehow this keynote was your breaking point (especially since for a lot of people that were not happy with EW's post content, they;ve acknowledged and announced the return of exploratory zones and more). Cant feel sorry for you with this post but I suppose you're free to express it regardless if its nonsensical

You're taking a corporate stance that only Square Enix shareholders have because they are directly profiting from it. By your own words you would be more than happy tomorrow if they removed all battle content, story content, and implemented first-person-shooter mechanics, grenades, and turned it into Final Fantasy: Call of Duty. It would get way more new players than the players who liked the original game leaving anyway, so its ok and we're all really happy with it.
