Nah, it's not him lol. Threneras is a Titanman alt, lmao.
Aether generally has Oppo or JP for 9s. I almost never see PF using anything but NE/NW for Wings 1 and same with any Kindred strat that isn't uptime. I'm just in 12s but almost never see any PF not doing lazy lasers. But there is a random PF with something differing sometimes and you either slot into it because you learned it at some point or choose one doing the strat you know. Or join prog parties and learn a strat you don't know. That's one of the nice things about our setup. You can learn different strats and find one that's comfy for you and stick with it or learn to adjust to different strats. It does require reading the PF, but they have that going to the chat box now so it shouldn't be that big of an issue.
I think if DCs want to do macros and static strats, that's fine. Everyone should be able to do what they want to. We don't use macros on Aether because we don't need them. It's very clear right now for instance if you see "Farm. MMRR" or "Farm. RMMR" what you need to do with the major mech and then we when get inside we set positions and just do the fight. It can get messy sometimes, but half of the fun is watching that chaos slowly come together and succeed.
I really should have not read all that.

My raiding experience is somewhat limited, but I have NEVER heard of an EU static not using macros for their strats. Even PF has macros for everything because it makes the setup much easier. You call your role (H1 or H2 for example) and that means you always know where to go and what to do. Japanese strats also seem to be growing in populairty lately.
i'm in an europian static and we dont use macros. we know our positions without macros, but we may switch it around if someone has difficulties in certain mechanics.
also we go in blind so there is no need to look at guides or macros created by other people.
we are very casual though and we dont replace people we just dont raid if someone is missing.
on the other side i dont know anything about pf strats xD
Yarr, established prog statics that aren’t having to sub people in on a regular basis are likely going to have a pre planned strat + positions rather than using macros.
Over the years the only time any of my groups have resorted to a macro was specifically when subbing people in.
It's more about the time sink of it, even the casual group that was described in this thread admitted to 8 hours a week of just raiding practice and runs. That is not including the mandatory videos you have to watch and other min maxing you have to commit to outside of these hours. If it was 4 or so hours a week over a few days sure, and no I don't mind watching a strategy video or two to prepare, but I am not going to watch 4 or 5 of them and spend hours on a training dummy nor am I spending anymore actual money on a VPN or other software to make sure my ping is as minimal as possible to quad weave or whatever the top 99% are doing now.
Usually they want you to min max with gear, spending lots of Gil on crafted pieces before you can get the raiding pieces or tome pieces, there is also making sure you can slide cast well enough and that you can get the right amount of oGCDs weaved to make sure you're hitting top ranks in the DPS charts.
