Is the Healer subforum here toxic?

A lot of the time role specific sub forms become toxic or at least try their best to shut out certain voices. The rare time I've looked in the healer section it just comes off as if you don't do savage or ultimates then shut up n sit down cause your opinion may as well mean jack all. Which sure you probably don't even touch most of your kit if you're not doing the hardest fights. Doesn't mean that certain aspects of a kit can't feel good to a more casual player. Or that a more casual player might miss some parts of a kit that they no longer have access to.

Ain't no toxicity like healer toxicity.

Since there's only one type of healer you can start as, you get a lot of people who refuse to touch any other class and consider themselves god's grace upon this MMO because they're not one of those stinky, braindead combat types. Holier than thou and convinced that nobody can run anything without them, they get pretty uppity over really minor things like whether you're pulling too much or not enough, etc.

Rarely will these players try out another class for longer than 5 minutes and if they do, it's usually rdm or smn because a) they can't resist having the ability to swoop in a heal and/or resurrect and b) smn levels with sch & rdm starts at 50.

Remember, every mistake you (a non-healer) makes is 100% your fault while every mistake a healer makes is totally just lag, bro. You don't get it my slidecast didn't work because of my ping, ignore the fact that I am in the wrong spot doing the mechanic incorrectly.

These forums in general are already pretty toxic, unfortunately. I can't exactly act innocent on that front either but I generally avoid the hell out of the healer forums because it often gets taken to another level over there.

Everyone already knows healing is boring as sin and might as well not even be a role. Anything else is just cope.

It's not. It's very passionate and filled to the brim with disgruntled players (which is imo pretty justified, even as someone who doesn't main a healer) but I wouldn't call it toxic.

I feel that the threads in there are pretty civil/helpful till someone starts acting snarky, then it all goes to shit fast.

Yep. I poke my head in there sometimes and while there are some good conversations, it usually at some point just becomes pages of people attacking each other and I nope back out here to GD.

The fighting usually happens because so many people in there are in agreement that something needs to be changed about the role, we discuss what might work or might not work as solutions, merits of trying eg 'increase healing requirements' versus 'add more damage options', it's usually civil from what I've seen/participated in. And then you get certain elements coming in, stirring the pot and getting everyone's heckles up whether intentionally or otherwise.

We don't get heated because we're toxic. We get heated because despite how badly the design of the role treats us, we're still healer mains at heart, and we just want what is best for the role going forward. But when we get hit with ridiculous statements like 'you guys are not really healers, you should play DNC/RDM cos you actually want to play support', or more recently an instance which went like 'AST is the only healer in PVP, the others are supports', yeh I'm going to stand up and rebuke it. Partially because I disagree with the characterization, but also because if someone says something as stupid and provably incorrect as the latter, I'm going to tell them as much. I'm not going to entertain people claiming stupid viewpoints as fact when they're easily disproven, or we'd be forced to listen to flat-earthers and hear them out because 'well maybe they have a point'

If that makes me toxic in someone's eyes, then they've never seen how bad toxicity can be

@OP: yes it's terrible, run away and never look back, save yourself before it is too late, before you fall into the trap of staying up till 4am finetuning potencies on a theorycraft that will only be shot down because 'it adds one damage button and that is one too many, the role is called HEALER it is meant to HEAL'

There are no outside opinions. You are on the same official forums that the healer subforum is on. The thread you are referring to has more meaningful discussion than this one has thus far and makes this feel like nothing but bait.

The experience you have as a healer is formed by:
1) The people you play with ( are they experienced,new,organized,random..ect)
2) Difficulty and content: ( normal,EX,savage,ultimate)- People who play harder content tend to be more skillsed ( takes less dmg = req less healing).
3) Your own experience and skill ( job and role)

A Premade group with good communication and organized play
will have diffrent experience of the game..than someone who play with randoms..
it's unfair to build around one type of "experience" as facts.

Because people will attack and troll/bully you
for simply sharing your opinion.
