Late to the party but I feel this is pretty cool, hopefully they continue with other things like making a cozy cabin for players and not just their mammets ;) lol (as well as some of the other features one might think of like teleport as mentioned above, chocobo stuff, etc).
Not sure why they disallowed the dummy unless there is just not combat code in that space (how does that even work? lol), the suggestion it's for the theme.. I mean I guess but then.. it's up to the player to put one down so.. I feel if the player wanted to do it that would be 'okay' (if it was forced then sure, but that's not how I imagine anyone imagines that works).
Gardens make more sense since they've a lot of gears and just copy pasting wouldn't really be 'jobs done' (like weather/housing system reliance, and market impact), though it would be nice to also see that come across too. Perhaps with some sort of cap system, like if you own a plot in the housing districts you have X unlocked plots (based on plot size) up to a maximum- when you go to build your cozy player house / garden you need to unlock the plots, up to that same total maximum active gardens. Meaning by purchasing the plot of land you get that bundled in, and Sanctuary Island users will have to unlock it by some means, but both Island Sanctuary and the yard in the housing district count to the same total. Semi-convoluted but I imagine otherwise the cost of gardening goods instead of going down a bit is just going to tank super hard lol. I suppose alternatively it's not end of the world, but would be nice! Also I am personally hoping to see more systems added to the island where not game damaging implications might arise like "mandatory or else we dont invite you to ultimate".
Pretty smart in a general sense though as now everyone can use the outdoor furnishings you often get from seasonal (at least quite often they're outdoor), less of a "cool this is useless" moment now if you don't own a house (well that and the cash shop). -

I wonder too if some of the item limits might be more relaxed when it comes to the outdoor furnishings on IS, being that the total number you can place is so much higher. For example, not reading the fine print, I bought the sun, moon and star Starlight trees, not realizing you can only place one per estate, no matter what size plot you have! lol

Hopefully we get a house to decorate there even if it's limited. Seems they're moving in that direction. Personally I love my islands have a slew of them with my alts. Wish we had retainer bells and menders there as well. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.
Hopefully if they do a housing I hope there are a good number of skins to choose from. -
