What if we've been wrong this entire time... and 2.0 is actually on Dalamund? We can see it in the distance, but just can't reach it, yet we're all waiting for it to come to us!

I posted awhile back about it being Vana'diel and that is how they are going to bring ffxi to an end.
I still can picture Shantoto standing on top, riding it out of the clouds with her signature laugh
Ya, Vana'diel was flat, so Dalamud can't be Vana'diel.
You know Vana'diel was a disc because it when it was 4pm on one "side" of the world it was also 4pm on the other "side". No time zones and all of them with the sun in the same position of the sky at the same time. (this was discovered when linkshells were first used to communicate over the vast distances and later confirmed through teleportation research.)
While what you say is true, I don't think any of it is definite proof of Vana'diel being flat. I'm saying this mainly because I've always thought that the distances in Vana'diel are small enough to conclude that everything happens within the same timezone of a spherical world.
This is the answer to everything related to Dalamud...

It's KOOLAID!
If our planet was the one moving towards Dalamud, we'd experience a change in the day/night-cycle :3
Maybe Dalamud is radioactive and infects people with some kind of amnesia, people won't remember their races names. Suddenly Miqo'te decide to call themselves Mithra, Roegardyn suddenly grows a tail....
