This is true (it better be, since you need to do endgame content to get BIS in the first place, due to that twisted setup that only MMOs do best lol. Remember the olden days when ultimate gear was designed to get you ready for ultimate challenges, rather than being handed out as a reward for same when you usually have little or nothing left to do with it? Is the Wyrmhero Blade really a good model for game gearing? LOL).
On the other hand, if you don't have BIS or close to BIS, eventually, it becomes harder and harder to get a decent party, especially if you're pugging (... which you probably are at that point, because almost all statics these days are the "start of the tier" kind, and getting one together later on in a patch is often harder than any mechanic). We teach people that crafted (especially when it becomes augmented crafted) and tomestone gear is good enough, but do groups listen, ever?
So then you have to start your own group, and by the time it fills, that's half the evening gone - and with today's heavily back loaded mechanics ...
The problem isn't the gear. It's the player culture. Fix that and you fix a lot of things about this game.
