You're all misreading the interview. Yoshida is saying that areas will NOT become drastically unrecognizable, such that Ul'dah will not become a jungle. The author has an odd way of wording it but that's what is intended. Ul'dah is still going to be a desert.
I just want options. Started playing for real in like february and I thought the leveling experience was actually pretty good. Between story quests, sidequests, and guildleves it was enough to keep me occupied and I really enjoyed the story stuff. If they have story, sidequest, leve, and then add quest hubs and more quests that you can get while in the wilderness, I think they are pretty much set in terms of solo progression as long as they don't insert any retarded grinds.
One big factor for me though is having enough to do outside of just your first class. There should be so much content that I can level at least a few of them rather than exhausting everything on your first 50 (outside of class quests which aren't very substantial right now anyway)
There ARE people who don't mind, or even enjoy Leves, you know.
But yes, I'm glad they're adding more options, instead of taking options away. I like the Leve system, but it was a drag to have it be the only means of solo leveling. Now I can do various things to level out several classes and enjoy my exploration a bit more.
So yes, Glad they are keeping leves, glad they are adding more - that's perceptively what they should be doing.
There are very very very few occurrences in which removing or reducing something is the smart choice for the development of a MMO. And often more playable options is better for the overall game, as you're adding more diversified content and more playability.
If you don't like Leves, skip-em. I'll do leves AND the quests and have a better time for it.
I use leves now myself til about 40, and make good Gil in the process, so I definitely endorse keeping them.
I don't craft, so I live off Halitali and Broken Water leves. ; ;
