Why do I play female characters?

I just play the one that gets the better character customization options.

I have always played male characters in all of my rpg games including FFXIV.

Soulsborne games (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Elden Ring,etc) are the only RPGs in which I play as a female character. Even then it's not that it matters since all of my characters outfits either completely covers my character and hides her gender, or that outfit is worn by both males and females.

Because I felt like it. No further answer really necessary.

I typically only play male characters in MMOs, sometimes with a rarely-played female alt. In every MMO when I played a female I'd get ERP whispers or suggestive comments. I don't know how they find me, given a lot of women told me this never happens to them. My female characters tend to be modestly dressed and smaller scale of chest-slider if the game has that option.

I don't really care what people play. I do chuckle a bit in RP communities a bit when two guys RP a lesbian couple - but even then I don't care all that much.

I only play female characters, because I am a woman. I like to identify with my gaming characters and/or avatars on that level.

I never play male characters in any game, unless there isn't a female option.

Just play whatever you want. As a kid, if the option was available, I only played female characters. In my mind, since I was a girl, I should only play girls. But puberty changes things, so I tend to play males more often in games now. But for an MMO, a genre in which you're gonna see your character for many, many hours, it just makes more sense to play as what you enjoy the most. You can't fully embrace the game if you're distracted by a negative feeling that something is off about your character!

I'm a woman and mostly play female characters in games unless I don't care for the female models. (when I used to play WoW I was a male troll and male tauren) For me it's less about the character matching my gender and more about liking the aesthetic of the character. I think people should just play whatever they want as long as they're happy with the character.

Most people would ask the forum why they play a female character in order to be able to relate to its members. Interestingly enough, fewer would actually start a whole thread about why they chose a female avatar, so everyone can to relate to them.

Oh for me it's very much third person. I take myself completely out of the character and play her as I make believe a female warrior of light would be. I have been married to a beautiful wife for a long time and know what she goes through on a daily basis being female. I take what I've learned from her and express that with my character. It has been an eye opening experience, experiencing the female side of things in terms of emotion, friends, and daily living.
