So it's an MMO.

Though your forum name gives me pause ... if you are starting to let choices in a game affect your mental state, it might be time to take a break from FF14. Yoshi-P even encouraged players to do so. It can help keep the game from getting stale or from us "hating ti" if we play it too much.
The gameplay most definitely is "enough" for some. This MMO in particular is actually very non-predatory when it comes to trying to "insist" you log in every day. However, when you have such a huge variety of things you can do, coupled with hundreds of thousands of unique individuals playing the game, inevitably there will be that "some" that get hooked into certain pieces. It doesn't mean there aren't a huge number of other people who aren't hooked in a similar fashion.
Roulettes are just more akin to a bonus you can get if you want. A lot of my leveling was done with Squadrons and whatnot when I had plenty of downtime a year or two ago.
I can relate to this
Not to say I'll necessarily unsub when that feeling hits, but I'll maybe take a break or focus on other, less grindy content
the weekly cap is so low that i can literally do like 2 roulettes a day and still make it before the week ends. none of the other things matter to me outside of gil grind. I do them because I'm bored and then I skip alliance raid roulette because it's awful and I just queue dun scaith/ivalice/nier and trap others in my nightmare
Eh, it's the sort of thing I'd definitely do if I were committed to being in-game, but if I don't feel like playing for the day I won't touch them. They're really helpful for when I want to get Tomestone gear or push a job to Level 61/71/81, but I'm not looking to pursue the Thank You, Tank achievements. The Gil can also be neat, but aside from purchasing minions and saving for a hairstyle I don't worry.
Im sorry you feel that way OP. It sounds like you’re going through a tough time, please don’t add extra worries on top of it all. You should enjoy a game, not feel guilty for it, plus roulettes don’t actually offer that much besides some tomes and materia.
I can know that when you are feeling low, having a sense of routine can actually boost your happy hormones, but don’t take it as far to the point where you feel like you “have to” otherwise you’ll let yourself down for no good reason at all. Try to find routine in other things, maybe smaller things for the beginning that can give you a sense of stability instead of hours of grind in a game for low rewards.
Take care and let me know if you need anything!
