Anyone else get the feeling they are still figuring out the story for 6.X and 7.0 ?

As I have explained, they start designing assets about 8 months or more in advance, so the "plan to draw up to the point" of 6.5 can be interpreted as having been decided already. He follows by saying he is working on the 7.0 story right now. We are still in the first year since EW released so it makes a lot of sense for the next expansion to still be a concept that they are designing concept art for. Even when we get the first previews of an expansion, some areas only have concept art available and no music yet. There is a lot of planning that happens before the assets can actually be made and my gut feeling has always been that it doesn't get going until after the .3 patch, but that is a guess.

March is my assessment based on the Stormblood expansion, which assumes no covid delays. Stormblood had 3.5 months between each patch, but it had 6 months between 4.5 and the expansion, which would take this to March.

But a few people that act Doom and Gloom and like everyone to know.
Your reaction to the image can also be seen as childish, because you reacted to it in such an explosive way when it wasnt even directed at you, or even OP, but to someone else/other types of people.

Based on that recent Famitsu interview by Yoshi P, it seems like they are still figuring out the stories for 6.3-6.5 and even said depending on what happens in those it could drastically change the story course of 7.0. While I know 7.0 has started production, it is feeling like we could be looking at a 2.5-3 year gap between expansions at this rate.

This is starting to feel like a Summer 2024 release if Yoshi P's comments are any indication. Also with FFXVI being released in Summer 2023 and Winter 2023 for FF7R, I have to wonder scheduling-wise where 7.0 would fit.

While I am not convinced they'll push it out that far, I can't say anything he said fills me with much confidence about their future plans for the game.

You are going to run out of plot thread if you keep rehashing the same content on repeat. I guess they don't know what to do anymore, so they are winding down.

I got the same impression. It's deeply concerning and not at all confidence boosting. I figured since Yoshi-P was in such a rush to be done with lore and stories everyone else was enjoying he must have a clear vision of what he wants to do instead and that doesn't seem to be the case. It makes me wonder what it was all sacrificed for other than he was just tired of it.

Nope, not at all. They feel like they have a good grasp on where they're going. They're just being cautious with what they tell us like usual. I think it may just feel uncertain to some because it's not following an arc. They're building this new arc on whatever their chosen pace is, so we can't really predict what's going to come next. Makes the speculation rather fun.

What you are is spoiled. You have no idea what its like to play a game like swtor, where players who thoroughly loved the game were BEGGING for content. That games expansions equate to a minor patch in this game and honestly the only thing keeping it going is the fact its a star wars game.

FFXIV is the most consistent MMO on the market when it comes to how often it updates and how much content it gets and even if the story is "average", at least this game drops full length stories that are 20+ hours compared to other games that drop 30 minutes of gameplay and 10 minutes of story.

Also, for a long time fan, I find it surprising that you thought the void ark would lead heavily into 7.0. The x.1 and x.2 patches are always clean up post expansion stories and the stories shift heavily after that. With the current arc effectively ending, why would you think 7.0 would be anything but a completely fresh start? Its more than likely we will be on a completely new continent. Whatever "threads" you're holding onto....you're wasting your time. They are starting fresh in 7.0 with a new story arc.

Well from the sounds of it...

6.x's Void storyline is fully written but for most intents and purposes going to be filler, which rankles a bit, and 7.0's not been fully written yet, which makes sense given as I recall they "only" have things planned a year in advance. Fully being the operative word - they've got a grasp on where they want to go, just not finished with it yet.

Expecting a longer than usual gap between 6.5(5) and 7.0 though. I'm fine with that though, rather get polished than rushed content.

The story was made up from the ground up since day one. I just wait whenever they introduce some new enemy type of thing.
