If your gonna do that be fair about tax at lest.... smalls cost at the most 4 mil 1 mil is 1/4...mediums 20 mil so they have pay 5mil 1/4..... larges 60 mil have to pay 15mil 1/4 a month...Under your theory that be the taxs on the houses... Lest see how many jump behind your idea...

They need to fix there system they have had since HW when it blew up there wasnt enough.. Appartments arent houses as stated.. can you live with your Eternally Bonded spouse or friends no cause you can't add tenats..every size house you can live with 3 people

You don't really get any benefit from the size only difference is how many gardening plots you can have, I wont be the one having to pay 20millions each month for having 20 house plots.

See how fast you back peddle on your tax idea when you make it fair going by the price??

( which most taxs are based on, here in my state the state tax is 6 cents on the dollar... I spend $1 its $1.06 I spend $100 its $106)..

And yes you do get many benefits,for each step up in size.. more items, larger rooms, a 3rd floor, a larger yard, larger storage and finally the gardening spots as you mentioned... If you gonna throw a suggestion out lest make it fair..

Theres are 3 sizes of house in a ward they all take up different amounts of space if all houses were small you could fit alot more then 60 per ward...but if all large alot less then 60... logically the more space you take the more tax you pay...

Do I personally agree with you idea no ..but i f they add it they have to make it fair

For me:
- a balcony to have some kind of garden place with a real view on the outside (obviously instantiated, easy to make think about Limsa Lominsa when you are in the upper deck and watch the main Aetheryte)
- a bigger room (it is really small if you are a little creative)
- more item to put in because 100 items is so easy to reach (maybe a PS4 limit?)

With this, no need for a house for me :)

Believe it or not, I'm on your side. I want you to have a house. I want other players who don't have a house to get houses as well. I want everyone to be able to enjoy the system.

But if players aren't providing constructive feedback, the developers aren't getting useful information to consider when they go to make design decisions.

"Apartments aren't housing" is not constructive feedback.

"Apartments are not the housing I want because... " then followed by a list of specific reasons would be.

There is no point to creating a list when the list is just how houses and apartments are different. Really... trying to open the discussion to feature lists invites wish lists that may even make apartments better than houses and can become prescriptive to the devs rather than leaving it open to them to find ways to achieve that. For example, the desire for an outdoor space can be achieved via balconies or a garden space, each might offer different opportunities to address things and one might be more effective than the other so it's simpler to just leave it open rather than focusing on any specific solution.

The list was there for your reference. This is what an apartment has. This is how it differs from a house.

I was leaving it up to you to say what in those differences has made you decide that you will only accept a house and refuse an apartment.

There were two more differences left off my list. One was pointed out by Siniztor (thank you!) - you cannot add tenants to an apartment.

The other is that apartments are not subject to demolition. Houses are.

If the developers don't get feedback about why players are not happy with apartments and only want houses despite some of the benefits included with apartments, they're left in the dark about how to improve things. They could implement changes just for the player base to respond "we don't want that".

We've already got wish lists about housing. They've been getting posted for years. Some of those suggestions have been implemented since. Most haven't. There's nothing wrong with wish lists when it gives the developers a better idea of what players are looking for. And sometimes you need to be specific for them to understand where the problem lies.

This almost always happens, no matter what the change is. I imagine the devs are inured to it by now.

One thing that puzzles me about not being able to cross-breed plants in apartments (and possibly by extention an instanced house), is Yoshi's point about the weather. I haven't noticed any way that the weather affects the plants. It can rain all day in LB and I still have to tend the crop or it dies. So, I don't understand the relevance.

I'm already seeing a lot of houses owned by 4 person FCs that haven't been decorated and don't appear to be used (including larges). But as Jojoya has pointed out, a lot of the systems available to house owners are very labour intensive and maybe not as much fun or as lucrative as people expect.

Personally, I'm bemused by the decision to give every player their own private instanced island and yet a feature that people have been asking for more access to since HW gets little more than band-aids. Instanced houses would seem to be the most logical solution, there are already unused exits in the older wards, so those could be used as access points.

About the weather problem, I think that it is more about stalling than a true technical problem. It is typically a thing that a studio can say because they do no want or cant allocate resources on a specific task :)
It can be for many reason: leadership direction, resources availability, knowledge lost with turnover, etc.

It is a polite and respectful way for a classic stonewall :)

And again it is easily understandable when we know the amount of work to create, fix and update a game of this scope :)

EDIT: the thing to do is to keep being loud on the forum (but respectful) and hope that housing will be on the top of their priority list

I know weather affects the animations when you're tending a garden patch. If it's raining, you bend over to tend the plant. If the weather is anything else, you water it.

What the direct relationship to crossbreeding is, I have no clue. It could be it doesn't directly affect crossbreeding but since crossbreeding requires the use of a garden patch that is dependent on weather to function properly, it's indirectly dependent on weather.

Personally I think it's a problem they could solve but unless they do, we're stuck with it as is.
