And then, out of a sudden, a random thread started to talk nonsense became a discussion about females, women, animals, marriage and not natives...
ok, Universe, I got it. No more forum for today :)

I am a woman who sees nothing wrong with the term female. Oh great FFXIV community known for its welcoming and inclusivity (lol) please enlighten me for my folly, bully me into the ground and dictate how I should best speak to make you comfortable.
TBH - and I know you're being facetious but bear with me here - the term "Female" isn't in itself weird or wrong. Infact it's used all the time by the scientific community in regards to discussion of specific anatomical stuff, or mental illnesses, etc.
It's all about context.
Just like how, as an example, it's not weird if a person just so happens to like Neon Genesis Evangelion. Go ahead, it's a good anime and a lovely piece of critical media! But lets say they start talking about how Shinji is their spirit animal, and how they think the Joker is misunderstood. This then paints a different picture. Same with the usage of the term "Female." On its own its fine - I know plenty of women who hate the term female, and plenty of women who *use* the term female. It's when its paired with a bunch of other unsavory stuff that the term itself stands out. Does that make any sense, at all?
What is this?
And the same thing will happen with those other words when people are looking for a new reason to be offended and so people will struggle to come with up new words to use that aren't supposed to be offensive but eventually will be.
I'm female. I fit the definition for the word. It's been the answer to many questions asked over my relatively long lifetime. I'm not offended because the word wasn't being used to offend. It was being used to describe.
And yet you still need to be offended even though he referred to himself as male.
I'd far rather be called "female" than "girl". I left being a "girl" behind before most of you were born.
I'd also rather be called "female" than "woman". Did you know that "woman" has frequently been used in a derogatory fashion over the years? "Woman, go get my sandwich and beer!" was something frequently heard back in the 70s and 80s, used to treat us as if we were servants.
Stop looking for reasons to get offended by word choice in ordinary conversation.
If OP had written in old a/s/l lingo (ex. 27m looking for 25f, limsa), people wouldn't even have given this thing the time of day. Fully writing Female? Nah boi, you gonna make peole's head go to that part of their brain where NatGeo documentaries are stored and make them feel like mating rituals in the savannah have begun for the "female".
That or the other documentary on video game voice chat trolls when they find out one of the players is a girl/woman and they suddenly revert to cavemen and start hurling words like...well you guessed it: females.
I'm a male looking for a female (me tarzan, you jane)
vs
I'm a boy looking for a girl (sounds like children)
vs
I'm a man looking for a woman (why does that sound so strange lol)
you're right, good ol' a/s/l would work a lot better in this instance. Honestly OP would have had no issue if they just posted it in the dedicated thread on not as a separate post. Live and learn I guess.
Kupo, it doesn't really matter what you say as long as your inflection is of a positive nature and looking good helps. True kupo <3 lol
