Will v. 2.0 feature item linking in chat?

Yes, this is pretty much a standard, World of Warcraft, Aion, SWTOR, Age of Conan, Rift.

If FFXIV developers didn't even think about this, I wonder if they're qualified developers for MMO for not doing market research.

Lol I have been playing this game for so long I had forgoten such features were the norm in other mmos. This would be so nice to be able to do. Instead of typing out /pcmd add "insert players ridiculously long name here". Making your own party and inviting players that send you tells which you cant actualy see to click on is one of the most anoying things in this game. The more i think about it the more it makes sense that version 2.0 with a new client/server structure was there only way out of the mess tanaka made with the game.

Well, while we're at this, why not:

1) CTRL + Click, to see how an item looks on your character? This is pretty much goes hand in hand with Item linking, and a standard in other MMOs.
2) CTRL + left click while in AH to search that item automatically, without typing "Electrum ring" for example. This is also standard, and goes hand in hand with item linking.

I can't think of any downsides at all.

You can hate WoW as much as you want, but they did these right.

Correct. Auto-linking important drop events (ideally only non-tradeable events, to allow privacy) is a desirable bonus (something that could be toggled on and off, independently from other things in chat). You also point to a more comprehensive gear/inventory comparison feature, and I couldn't agree more. We should be able to see the result of a comparison with the equivalent item we have equipped, or the item you pre-select in a search. This should happen for all full stats and attributes, without restriction of item nature, or selected item location.

Yep, this is a standard feature with huge utility value. If we don't see this 2.0 I'll be scratching my head too.

Deserves a dev response but seriously, this should be in the UI forum not general discussion.

I appreciate the nudge about the adroitness of the discussion where I posted this, but I wanted to hear (and for the moderators to hear) the opinion of the general public, which usually doesn't visit all specialized discussion topic forums.
