You on the other hand seem to think that because FF14 fulfils your expectations while WoW did not that the people here are also naturally fulfilled and happy? That they're ungrateful because you received poor treatment elsewhere?

We can gate people's happiness or expectations on anything, but all that really does is change where the bar for those expectations is set. It doesn't mean it's right.

I'm not bothered by it. Even for members of the team who are just code monkeys, you're still creating something and you're at your best when you're active and engaged. If you're burned out from doing too much, you aren't going to be presenting your best work. With how often people complain that the devs are putting out things not up to par, I would think acknowledging they're not at their best and outlining what they need so they can be would be more positively received. And also, for the point about hiring more people, sometimes that disrupts the synergy of a team or teams need to factor in the loss of personnel while they're bringing that person up to speed with training and oversight. Which can sometimes make the situation worse since they're not getting the immediate benefit from a new team member and they're losing one or more to mentor the new person.

They like... said there'd be an extra 2 weeks for major patches on the *outset*. This isn't a shock, it's literally what they said from the beginning.

i am definitely not a white knight but even i dont see the issue of having a bit extra time between the patches.

my main issues is the quality of the patches and specifically how they implement features and job adjustments cause so far in EW they dropped the ball big time on those (hrotger ears, lottery, healers changes: aero better then dia, whm lilybell) and yoshi p double standard and dismissive remarks in his interviews/LL aka " go play ultimate" remark.

what kind of dev would think cutting someone ears is a good implementation.

Unless I missed an actual announcement specifying that they will be extending the development cycle by an additional 2 weeks on top of what they have already specified earlier in the year? As far as I am concerned though, their default patch cycle was 119 days which is already 4 months.

didnt they also say that patches that land in Summer/Winter may get delayed slightly because they give their workers downtime during the holidays? Gods forbid the developers are ever allowed out of their chairs for anything not related to work, right?

If they went and changed it to 2 months more without giving us more content, than I would be a bit upset. But two weeks? Yeah I can survive that just fine. And if that gives the normal people working behind the game a bit more of free time than thats great.

I don't know, but I'd like to say that if people were held to the same standards with their working hours as to what they seemingly hold the developers too then they'd probably be kicking and screaming, throwing their toys out the pram and all.

oh im well aware. i was poking fun at the fact that some people want the devs to be worked like dogs just to please them, never mind the fact it'd cause severe burnout and a degradation in quality on all fronts
