Because that's not an opener, it's every burst window over 3 minutes. If you just look at the opener it has less double weaves and is a lot less spammy than DrK's opener. Sure the 3 minute Bloodfest + No Mercy is counterintuitive but I've complained about that on multiple occasions already.
What we need to compare here is just "The Pull" part of this graphics with DrK's opener, not the entire graphic.
If you want to compare rotations I don't think you have much of a leg to stand on either. GnB's rotation might looks complicated but all of these No Mercy windows naturally flow into each other by just pressing your abilities on cooldown, in reality it's really simple. Whereas DrK's 1 minute loop consists of 45 seconds of just pressing 1-2-3 with the occasional EoS to not overcap on MP and then 15 seconds of "spam every oGCD you have"
Defo absurd to say GNB is hard to learn ^
Would vote for GNB as easiest tank, easy rotation, early free healing with aurora, early gap closer so downsyncs well
Camouflage gives you extra CD whenever you need / want
Not the most indestructible but no.paper tiger either so a nice middle ground
I'm saying you were mentioning opener and this was about rotations, and while I misspoke about opener and meant to talk about GNB's rotation, I do think GNB's is more complex/involved than DRK considering movement and things like Continuation. So you come here to talk opener but the discussion was about rotations.
I won't push tanking on anyone, but one thing that REALLY helped me: Palace of the Dead.
PotD is designed to not require tanks. Like...at all. Any four Jobs (including 4 DPS with no healing abilities) are supposed to be able to clear it. That means even if you go in as a tank, it's pretty chill and not a lot is designed in there to kill a DPS, so a tank can easily survive it all. You can play around with abilities in there (things often die so fast it's irrelevant if you're using a "proper" rotation, even), and there's really no stress since, if someone else pulls agro...so what? It's designed to not kill them. :D
I dunno, just a suggestion I make to all new tanks since it REALLY helped me learn to just chill and roll with it. Guildhests are a similar thing, even if almost no one runs them.
The real trick to me as a tank was just being able to throw caution to the wind and pull stuff. As a healer, I've worried about health bars so long, it was weird not to. But tanks can practically heal themselves (and a party member in some cases along with them), and if you typically play a DPS anyway, that's generally not your concern to begin with. :D
Either path you choose, I wish you luck and fun times, friend. o/
Warrior. Cus it goes brrrrr (my favorite tank after bringing it back to life at 90)
I totally forgot PotD.
I'll level my war to 60 (almost there) to get pvp Garo title but I'm not touching much of my duty roulettes. I alt-f4 when feeling overwhelm as a tank. *looks at dungeons*. While everyone here and in game are nice. I just get tankxiety. To much going on and to much to keep track of. I have a hard enough time as dps, adding Tank mechanics to the mix *head explodes*. lol.
I tried tanking and as much as I hope, it not clicking for me.
That's find. Was something different to try.
But why compare to darkmind ? Would say it's closer to oblation , when that was introduced in EW they all laughed at DRK but when they saw DRK stack oblation, TBN and arm's length none of them were laughing after
Camo is much the same, unlikely to not be paired with something else, fair it hard to calculate parry mit into it not the best on its own but it's no slouch
Camo + reprisal /camo + aurora ect.
And from learning PoV
What if a learner tank fell over and nebula dropped out of their Pocket? Rampart and camo
Rampart and nebula down and facing magical mobs ? Camo and heart of light
Miscalculated holy stun time and put CD up early? Camo
Don't know boss casts or untelegraphed ? Camo
