I'd live in Grid if I had a fat chicken readily available.

I think a central city hub in a world is a good thing. I don't however believe that Ul'dah will be that place for very long. Any new city added will have a huge influx of people and for a time the other cities will be quieter. Then it will settle down and the population in each city will balance out until the next cities release.
I do want to see the addition of a 1 anima tp between the gates in each of the cities, easy to implement within the current menu that comes up when you click the stone.
I vote Sephiroth for mayor of Jeuno II.
Or, wait. What the hell?
I don't want an ffxi-2, or a clone or any ideas from any other game. WTF was I thinking?
I for one would like to see some smaller towns scattered about. Not the outposts we have at the moment, but places like Selbina, or Rabao with their own quests and culture.
On the overcrowding: If you are annoyed by it constantly - guess what - You are part of the problem. Just do what I do and hang out in Limsa.
the fix is extremely simple. when the AH is implemented the player's nation will have tax him/her much less as apposed to using the auction house of other nations. the new jeuno will have the highest taxes out of all the cities to promote players journying back to their nations for market activities.
for example;
you hail from uldah your tax in the cities AH is 5%. the other 2 cities have a 15%-25% tax. jeuno has a 20%-30% tax rate.
a bit off topic and i am not saying any thing definite. but the npc chatter up around coerthas is painting ishgard in the light of a town of religious zealots who are currently really digging on the leaders Kool-aid. Forced military service, banishment of non-believers and dissenters. definitely not a tower made of rainbows and unicorns. Then again Uldah and Limsa could be viewed in the same not so friendly light
All Airships lead to Ishgard therefore you would be swapping a 3-5min Airship ride to Limsa rather than:
Uldah > Ferry Port > Long Boat Ride. (20-25mins total )
So Uldah won't seem very central when Ishgard opens.
Also predicting a zone between The Black Shroud and Thanalan at some point.
Chocobos are gonna be sweet and will seem a super fast way to travel at first.
Ala Mhigo and Sharlayan may be towns at some point too.
I think if they make the local leves taken from Guild-Master, people will stay at their class-guild city. But since you can do everything from Uldah and oh wait, Uldah regional leves rocks .. why should we leve? ;p
